Q:

Hex Keys for Vulcan

I read somewhere on here, but didn’t mark the thread…….What size hex keys do I need for working on my Vulcan? Looking to purchase a dedicated set along with spare O-rings. Are T-Handles the way to go, or will regular metric keys suffice?

I stripped one holding the rail when I was trying to get it off to reverse it for the MTC Connect scope. I lightly drove a torx bit into it and was able to get get it out. I then cut a groove with a dremel for a slotted screwdriver. It works for now. I just ordered some replacement screws so I can replace it and have spares when (I mean IF) I screw up more.

Found them here:

M5x25 for Rail (Thanks Tony for getting back to me on this size as it isn’t in the manual)
M6X80 for bolt in hand grip
M6X14 for forearm bolt. I read where one user got a longer one because only a couple threads of the steel bolt go into the aluminum action. So I also ordered M6X16
M3X6
M3X5
M6X10

I know if I ever take the gun apart, I’ll probably lose the one and only nut which is an M3. They did not have a nut listed this small.

I bought this kit a couple years ago. It has hex, torx, etc.

I have a bunch of screws that will not budge. Stripped two of them. Not very happy. I wonder if they couldn’t come up with a smaller size hex. That would be even better.

I get my tools from commercial or auto parts store. Like Napa or O’Reilly. Other places are mostly junk.

Gonna head to Lowes or Home Depot and look for a kit. Hoping that 1.5mm is not hard to find. Thanks Gents!

need I say more…..I believe the small one for the side plates is 1.5mm

This is what I bought. Covers the small Allen for trigger adjustment

quote Zonk:

I’d get both, they’ll come in handy. Just give a light tap with a small hammer on the end of allen to break free the screws.

Will do Zonk……Do you recall the sizes I need? 2mm, 3mm,…etc.? I’ll pull the manual when I get home. Was hoping to order tools from my work puter.

Hope your “Ernest Tune” has you splitting paper sideways down range! :5:
