Q:

High Flow Valve Options?

Been away a while and getting back to shooting my Condor in the near future. Just remembered my old high flow valve busted the first time I used it. Have a stock condor valve but want something better as the gun has been done up to really throw some lead.

Any suggestions? I searched around and found Geordie:

Is he the only high flow valve maker around anymore? Any experience with them? Anyone use one with a regulator?

Thanks in advance.

real easy to tell the SelphB valve from a real Blob UK valve…
SelphB valves have a burst disc on the side of the body
UK Blod valves don’t

I get some pictures and send them off to blodnob and find out who’s work it was. Will be sure to post here too. I do know the hammer is heavier on my gun. Will have to really dig into all this and find out what is what. Bought the gun about 18 months ago if I recall correctly.

Do the threads come to an abrupt stop or a fine taper at the end?

what caliber are you looking to use? for standard hi-flow, depending on your location, cant go wrong with tony up to .25. if you are golng bigbore, i hear a blodnob valve cant be beat if you are willing to spend the time to tune it and maybe ask for an accompanying hammer spring. there are many in the mod/machinist section who are making and occasionally selling valves that are a stroke of pure genius, look around there too. 😎

I am shooting a .25 cal Condor. The old high flow was a blodnob and it just plain busted in half. Think it was the stem that broke. Considering just having my machinist copy it and make me a new stem and a second valve for my other tank. Don’t know about copying someone else’s work though. I read that others are making copies. What is going on with Blodnob valves these days?

What you had was most likely a cheap copy of Seans work. I’m just guessing here…..Was it a Selph clone?

yeah never heard of any problems with Blod valves failing
that was all SlephB’s clones as far as I am aware…simply wrong alloy coupled with heavy hammers & springs

there is a youngster here in the UK that is doing very nice stems for bad SlephB blod knob valves

Did you buy your Condor before or after selphb started making his valves, some guys were having trouble with his stems breaking.

Why don’t you take some pictures and send blodnob a pm.

Was it a real one you got from him in the uk? I only ask as a few people have tried to copy it who have had this problem. But the real ones tend to be much stronger.

Came with a gun I bought. I am pretty sure it was an original from the UK.

i have no idea what sean is doin if anything these days. your best bet for a reliable, well built and balanced valve configuration is to go either to TT or Leupy if he is still doing it. if you are a fairly keen tinkerer, the standard mk2 hi flow from AF can give outstanding performance if you are willing to put time in to do it right. theres a few tutorials floatin around here. btw… how did the said blod valve break, did you drop the tank or experiment with crazy heavy hammer weight or something? 🙁
