Hill Pump Problem – Dammit
Last time I went out to shoot, my pump felt odd, today, it definitely felt wrong, and quickly went to shit. I got it home and the inner tube had worked loose about 1/8, maybe a bit more. I tightened it up and greased everything, and now all seems well. Should I order a rebuild kit immediately and go hunting damaged o-rings?

John, I left my Hill pump sitting by a heat register a few years ago…That’s a NO NO. 😳
it actually caused corrosion in the bottom check valve. Once I figured out which set of rebuild instructions to use, it was easy to clean, lube and install the rebuild kit. Then I gave in and got the Shoebox compressor and haven’t looked back. But I won’t part with either of my hand pumps just in case the electric goes down from a Coronal Mass Ejection or EMF event.
Yeah. I’d thought along those lines myself. Maybe this is fair warning to quit screwing around and “be prepared”.

You may not have any problems for years to come, but it is a good idea to have a rebuild kit handy just in case. I have not had any problems with my pump, but as I was filling my Edge today, it stopped working. Now I will have to order a kit and only shoot my sproinger and SSP until the kit gets here.

Not a bad idea to have more than one pump, especially if different fittings are tightly screwed on. Also, if you have to add a lot of air, you can switch pumps while one cools down.
