Holdover
Hi everyone I am new to the forum and airforce guns and I would be interested in your experiences on holdover levels at range. I have my gun zeroed at about 20 yards and it seems on the money at about 30 yards. Ho much holdover would I need at 50 yards say, 75 and 100. Also if I didn’t factor any holdover and just aimed with central cross hairs then how much would you expect my pellet to drop at 50, 75 and 100 yards? I am getting about 40 foot pounds.

Chris, I told you wrong :sadn: , I hold under or over between 20 and 80 yards. The amount is aproximitly 3″. I only use the 3″ mark or 50 yards, otherwise the trajectory mirrors itself.

I don’t use dots actuall. Just a cheap 30-30 scope reticle, I believe it is around 1.5-2″ holdover between 20 and 80. I will see tonight.
Or learn to dope your scope and use the cross hairs :whistle:
Thanks guys. TheHunter that is really interesting. So just half a milldot between 20 and 80 yards?? That’s great because 80 yards is as far as I would want to go 99 percent of the time.
My .25 is on the money, or should I say golf balls, at 20 and 80 yards. No difference between holdover. Between them I use a half mill and can hit golf balls every time. after 80 the drop is pretty significant.
It’s really impossible to answer those questions without knowing your velocity and pellet. We could get velocity from pellet weight, if we had that, given your fpe, but in all there’s not enough information to determine anything.
As a .22, my condor ss shot “minute of starling” from 25-50 with no holdover. After that, the holdover got pretty high, pretty fast. I just converted to .25, and reckon I should have more arc now, although my 25 yard zero held between barrel swaps, at least vertically.
