Q:

Home made Dual Powered ( Co2 / HPA ) Airgun

I feel very happy to share few photographs of airgun made by me. By this weekend I will assemble it fully & put some more photographs & no.s here.

I thank all you Gurus here for providing basic & detail info about PCPs. It is because of people like you that I could make a airgun of my own. TAG is like virtual encyclopedia of Pre charged technic & I have always turned to it whenever my designs failed or materials did not work.

I used to read & experiment a lot of stuff read here & elsewhere. Selected the best info suitable to my project & built this. It was a great experience building an airgun & I plan to keep improving upon my mistakes & make better designs in future.

I had been experimenting with various combinations of hammers, springs, valve ports & stems to be able to get a consistent power & shot counts to remain within legal limits applicable here in India. The ultimate goal was to get 700-800 fps with 15-18 grain pellets & approx 150-175 shots before tank dumps.

The current set up is giving me 130 shots in .22 / 17 grain pellet at average velocity of 780 fps from 500 cc bottle & 18″ barrel. Starting pressure is 2400 psi & closing is 850 psi. I am using hybrid hammer of 32 grams with little stiffer spring than talon stock spring & 0 preload.

Please see the latest 20 shot string mentioned below & let me know if I am bang on target or can improve on any part to get more shot counts from this set up. I am not interested in more velocity because then my airgun will be termed illegal here but increased shot will definately be a boon. Starting pressure here was 2400 psi & closing 2100 psi

Thanks everyone for encouragment provided. Here in India it is little difficult to make high quality airguns compaired to US, UK or Europe because a simple alloy tube is also not available in market. Same applies to many types of precision machines & other special accessories you people have easy access.

Barrels are not sold in retail & imports are restricted. The one I used here is salvaged from a spring piston rifle of Indian make. HPA compressors are a rarer than Koh-e-Noor diamond. fine quality machine tools are another story to tell. So in short a person gets tired in sourcing these pre-requisites alone than making a product worth admiring. Hope to overcome all this with friends like you who are always ready to help others.

Nice job, your machine work looks good from my house!

Yours looks like a gun if I made it who knows what it would look like. Interested in shooting reports, thats cool to try something like that.

Why would we laugh at your efforts? That is a nicely built machine. The only thing I would suggest is swapping out the laser for some optics. It looks very cool. Like a Condor screwed a 2240. 😉

Thank you fishin_rod for your kind words.
I am not a good machinist as you all here but I just tried my best. Please don’t laugh at my efforts.
Here are few more pics of airgun in fully assembeld condition. Please excuse for picture quality & un polished pistol grip. But it was hectic week & I could manage this much only so far. Hope to get it filled up & shoot by tomorrow evening.

Looks good, and looking forward to more pictures of the finished rifle.
