If you search the archives you will find out OG’s story on Nitrogen tank fills and leasing. :biggrinn: I researched nitrogen, and Bauer and Airtex new and used compressors extensively. In my area tank lease and fills are quite a bit more expensive but still not bad compared with buying a commercial compressor but more than buying a basic shoebox and hose/gauge assembly. Praxair typically will ask you how much gas you use these days and expect to get nailed when they find out you may fill it once a year. 😉 That is one reason you will see huge variation in pricing. If you use a lot of gas they will basically let you borrow the tank(s) for free. If not they will crank the price up very quickly or eventually.

The main issue with the commercial compressors is of course initial cost and secondary is weight but with 220v they really aren’t portable. Beware when other owners tell you “buy it and you will never look back”. 😆 After shelling out over $4000 for the compressor and accessories it hurts to look back. That said I looked at both a used Airtex 45 and a used Bauer JR II and could have saved about $700-800 but if I am spending that kind of money I wanted a new one. They do have good resale value. I ended up back then with the original Shoebox and really could have shared it capacity wise with another shooter for $550 plus $100 for the PC pre-compressor. I have only changed the orings once in 2.5 years.

Recently, I put a Raptor on order because they are proving to work well and are very portable and self-contained on 110v. You can also still fill a gun directly but very quickly like a Shoebox but not with a commercial one that is too fast. I have the opportunity to start visiting some commercial orchards, etc. We will see how it works out. 😉

For paintball we ended up buying the tanks and a fill station and getting the air filled by the local firehouse for free but we had to haul the tanks to the firehouse and they are very heavy (We used a cherry picker to put them on the back of a truck bed). The fill station and accessories were about $500 by the time we got done.

Ride I live in the great state of Illinois 😥 I recently inquired the nitrogen gig at Airgas. Oh my, it was so expensive I could not believe it, I will have to find a Praxair and check there I cant believe there is that much difference in price. When I left Airgas I was actually pissed, find out more info for me if you can ,like is the guy you know good buddies with the owner,or is that the regular customer price. I am seriously thinking of getting a shoe box and tank .im still hand pumping 😡

No buddy price for any reason, he just went in and asked, can’t believe he’d josh me for any reason. Check with them. You can spend a lot on regulators to set it up if you don’t shop around and find a deal. I think he said he got a TESCOM brand from Ebay.

Before you buy, I have a low hour bauer junior coming. The guy I got the bauer from has more of them. After I get mine I will give opinion if I think I got a good deal… The junior will go to 4500 on standard tank in around 30 minutes. To top off I am thinking around 10 minutes…

Ya, I got an F8 shoebox and could not be happier with it. I feed it with a ROLAIR mini compressor and it is prety darn quiet combo, it runs in the shop with me when working on guns and does not anoy at all, let me know if you need a shot of air before getting set up. A guy here in town got a 6000 psi nitrogen setup from praxair for 90 a year and 90 a fill, should last a long time and not too expensive, he sourced the reg and related stuff on ebay for around 300. …

Another Hoosier…
I am from the “Small Town” area, little North of you, maybe 40 miles…
I thought I saw you in a post about an air compressor. Did you get an air compressor?
