How do you know how much pressure is in the tank
When I refill my gun tank from my scuba tank, how can I tell how much pressure in the gun tank at the beginning of the fill? Am I supposed listen for the valve to open while watching the gauge?
I’m using a standard scuba fill adapter from PA with a quick connect coupling and 4 inch SS braded air line

That’s strange, I have the exact same valve as you, except mine doesn’t have the hose and foster Q.C. coupler yours has. My scuba valve is the same as yours too. The only explanation I can think of would be the hose somehow “cushions” the sudden air pressure change. One way to perform a rudimentary check on the guage is to take it with you to the scuba shop and after they fill your tank ask them if they will let you “top off” your gun tank and then top you back off again. It will also tell you if your getting a full 3K fill. ASSuming the guage is accurate to begin with. Out of curiousity where did you get your gauge? It looks exactly like the one A.F. sells.

Ok, then yours must be different than mine. Post a pic. On mine the guage sits at 0 until I crack open the scuba tank valve. Then, it jumps up to the tank pressure, then stops right there. I have to open the valve a little bit more to get it to start taking a fill.

What kind of valve do you have on your scuba tank? mine is a Thermo
The only way I can tell is to listen for the valve to open, I don’t think its a very accurate method

install a gauge on the tank , not hard to do and probabaly cost less then $30 ,
Pay close attention to the needle when you crack open the valve. It will jump up and then stop, where it stops that’s your tank pressure.
I dont have a scuba tank yet, but I imagine its the same as the hill pump. It will initially build up pressure quickly, and then when it hits buddy bottle pressure, the fill rate slows down??
Just a guess but I cant see how it wouldn’t be the same!? 😕

try opening your scuba valve just a tiny bit and very slowly, it should build presser to equalize with the tank then give it some more twist to fill
