How does the power wheel work?

Hello,

I was just wondering if any one could explain to me how the power wheel actually adjust the power. What does it actually physically speaking. If you have photos that would be great to help me understand.

I’ve gone through several screw’s – some have just fallen out through use and other’s I forgot to unscrew them before removing barrel scress so they snapped.

I usually do a ronco and “set it and forget it” so it wasnt a big problem and if I did need to adjust it I’d just spin it until the hole appeared and then put an allen wrench in it to keep that part from turning while I made an adjustment.

It is really a weak part, my plastic screw broke off one day, now I have a metal one in, cheap, cheap, cheap!

Actually, on mine the wheel is metal – the inner part is plastic.

There are plastic versions out there though.

And be sure to take that screw out before you take it apart. If you don’t and it gets hit hard enough it will pull right out.

Fortunately that’s not talking from experience, but the power wheel hole is a little oval shaped from doing that. 😀

Perfect, That was just what I was looking for. Thank you for your help Yellow Ninja.

There are two parts, that are threaded and screwed into each other.

So when you turn the wheel (the nut) the other part that you cannot see from the outside (the bolt) moves and reduces/increases the space that the hammer spring can occupy so it will be compressed more or less when cocked.

More power on the wheel = more compression on the spring so it hits the top hat with more force.

Less power on the wheel, less compression and less force to open the valve.
