Q:

How fast are Woodchucks?

Can they run?

Pretty sure I just saw one go across the yard… a big lugger. But he was moving fast. Long, loping strides. I was always under the impression that they were slow movers, or at least they didn’t run like squirrels do.

Just want to find out before I take a shot at it and then find out I whacked some type of protected species.

quote knifemaker:

FAST!

… And then some. 😉

Kill all those torpid little bastards. All they’re good for is ruining lawns.

Don’t drive angry, don’t drive angry!

FAST!

I’m still trying to figure out just how much wood a woodchuck can chuck…

😆 😆

They just seem to disappear at my father in laws house as soon as a door or window opens. He’s been trying to get rid of them with his .22lr for as long as I’ve been in the US.

OK, cool.

You’re right… not so much a “bounce”, but more like a “wave”.

He’s a big SOB… he’s gotta be ten pounds easy if he weighs an ounce.

Looks like the hunt is on! 😆

Hell yea they run!

Seen it many times when they were trying to avoid lead poisoning.

They just dont have that defined bounce of a squirrel, but they are definitely beyond a fast walk.
