How is the Talon in .177?
I previously owned a TSS in .22 and it shot very well on a fill of 2600 psi. My longest tree nutter kill was 70 yards. Now I mainly shoot .177 and enjoy shooting targets out to 50 yards. I am curious as to what to expect of the Talon in .177 if I stick to a fill pressure of 2600 (2600 makes my scuba tank last longer!). I have a nice collection of .177 pellets and don’t really need the hunting power of the .22 now. Would appreciate your feedback.

Rust? I doubt it. I’ve shot Int’l air pistol for years with my Walther CP3 on CO2 and never had a problem. I think someone said that if you shoot HPA, you should lube your pellets to prevent rust.
My local dive shop described CO2 as a “dirty gas” whatever that means. Since I have a SCUBA tank and two AF tanks for portability I don’t bother with CO2.
If you’re worried about rust from condensation – let it warm up slowly – and then use a crownsaver pull through or 177 nylon cleaning rod to run dry patches through the barrel. Keep the breech closed after a session to reduce warm air circulation. Gentle rise in temp reduces condensation.
Other TAG members can recommend a HPA+Oring safe oil for final protection. Thankfully a replacement barrel is fairly cheap.
I shoot heavy 177, 10.65 Barracuda / Kodiak pellets for range and the 10.65 Barracuda / Kodiak Hunter HP for pest removal. I also shoot the 7.0gn RWS R10 Match wadcutters on 1500psi for 20 yard target and get 80 shots before it needs a fill. I run two AF tanks for this purpose.

Why bother with pumping to 1500 for low power shooting. I’ve found that shooting with CO2 to be most satisfying, plus you get hundreds of shots per fill. 20 oz. refills at Dick’s Sporting Goods is $3.99.

I have a Condor with a condor hi-flo tank and a regular talon tank. I keep reading about needing a special .177 valve (More specifically a stiff valve spring) so you don’t have a tank dump. I am thinking of trying a shorty setup and was thinking .177 may be the way to go to keep the FPS up.
I should add I shoot the Baraccuda/Kodiak MATCH pellets because I found better performance and groups from them. The non-match needed hand sorting to get the same grouping.
I believe the Talon and Talon SS tanks are interchangeable and multi-caliber, neither have the hi-flo. I think the Condor is the only gun that requires hi-flo and different valves for 177 and 22. Someone here who owns a Condor may be able to help.

SSS, did you have to buy .177 tanks or can I use my Condor hi-flo and regular talon tank?

Same here. Heavy pellets. However brand A 10 g pellet will shoot different than brand B 10g pellet. All part of the fun of air gunning.
I’ve shot the 177 12″ TSS for a year now and find the best balance starts around 2600psi. It’s easy on the air and about 40 long range shots.

Nothing wrong with the Talon SS 177. I shoot ice cubes and sticks of chalk with my TSS 177 at 50 yards. Hitting a 6 oz tomato sauce can out to 80 yards is no problem. However 90 and 100 yards is my jinks yards. I wish I could say that it is gun gun’s fault, but it’s not. 🙄
I usually fill to 3000 psi just so I don’t have to stop and fill as often.
I don’t have to worry about my scuba tank running out of air. One of the many reasons to owning an air compressor. 😀
