how is this for accuracy !
i have a slightly abused , much loved talon running a .22 HW barrel from mac1. the gun has a hawke nite-eye sr 12 6-24 x scope on it. using 15.9 grain jsb exacts at an average of 850 fps (25.53 fpe as per chairgun) i was able to hit crows at 85 yds. that too in a 5-7 mph crosswind! i kept missing for a day before it occurred to me to kick up the mag to 18 x, then half a tank to figure out the effect the cant was having and 10 shots to dope the wind.
after that it was game on. i missed a bit appx 30 % miss rate, but it was mostly me and not the gun. even at that range the jsbs anchored the pests with authority.
the reason i dont have pics to prove the same is that i was shooting these critters out of a huge eucalyptus tree. the tree was in my antsy neighbors compound, who would come out and start scowling sky wards as is to see what was ailing his comrades. the ones that fell out of the tree could not be retrieved and i soon had to stop the exercise. not good form to drop birds in the neighbors regardless of how big an asshole that guy may be.
i was a skeptic but the talon has proven it self to be up to what is realistically speaking the air gun performance envelope. now funds permitting i shall be getting the hi flo valve / tank to get more out of this great piece of kit.
pics are being uploaded to photobucket as we speak.
photobucket is upto its usual tricks so shall try in the morning.
