Q:

How many fills can you get from a std 80cuft scuba tank?

My friend placed an order for an R3 Long cal25 last night. He uses a scuba tank for filling his rifles. If his scuba tank contains 3200 psi to start with, how many fills will that give him on his Edgun R3 25 long?

Drop down a few posts and read edgun vs cricket, all of it.

Guys, thanks for the link on the Fill Calculator.

But what I wanted to know was the number of actual fills and the fill pressure used by Edgun owners using a standard 80cuft scuba tank.

I think most regs are set at around 150 bars for best results of Edgun R3 Long, is that correct?

What is the tank volume of the R3 Long 25?

Thanks again.

Airgunsofarizona has a tank fill calculator on their website.

FWIW. I have an 88 cf 4500 carbon fiber tank with SCBA and 3 ft 1/4″ hose. Refill at 100 bar to 200 bar. I got 17 -3000 psi refills out of tank. The 1/4″ fill hose probably wasted 2 or 3 refills worth of air when bleed off. Microbore hose would waste less air on refills. That’s a solid 2000 pellets in 22 long version for $6 of air. I don’t know what shot count on 25 long is getting but you can figure math.

Thanks OG and HOOT..

Tony gave my friend 4 – 7 months for his R3 Long cal 25. It should be enough time for the JSB Kings to get restocked.

Since it was me who influenced my friend to get an Edgun, I felt responsible to learn a thing of two so I may help him get setup when his baby arrives.

That’s two or three fills at 3K.

An Edgun, being wonderfully efficient in it’s valve design and regulator function, will continue to provide quite adequate shot count with fills from 2900, all the way down to around 2200 to 2300.

Recall the regulator doesn’t care how full the gun is, it only wants to know if the pressure is higher than it’s release of air is set for.

So, technically OG is correct, however you can achieve many many fills with a 3200 psi tank, as long as you accept your shot count slightly decreasing with each fill. If you have an Edgun Long, that’s a LOT of shooting on one tank fill.

Take heart….all is not lost. Trial will provide you with the correct descending shot count answer, and a chrony to note when your fps begins to drop drastically, indicating it’s now off the regulator.

It’s not so much as how high you can fill it, it’s really about how effecient the gun is with air usage. An Edgun probably gets more shots with a 2000 psi fill than most guns do with a 3000 unregulated fill.

All is not what it seems in the magical world of Edgun….

quote oldgoat:

If he fills the gun to 3100psi, he will only get a few fills. 3-4 at most?

Hi OG,

So what is the usual fill pressure for the Edgun R3 cal 25 then?

What do Edgun owners use to fill their R3, scuba tank or shoe box?

If he fills the gun to 3100psi, he will only get a few fills. 3-4 at most?
