Q:

How often do you adjust your scope

I have a nikko nighteater and have to adjust it about once a month.
Is this normal?

😯 Once your scope is set to your fps/pellet, it shouldn’t need adjusting again. Even when I hunt in winter when my gun goes from warm room to cold outside, the poi never changes.

But Winter in the UK is…. about 2 degree’s cooler than Summer in the UK 😛

I’ll have you know that this summer the sun came out for over 25 minutes on june 17th. As you know, that counts as a heatwave…. 😯

What scope are you using?

I have a MTC Viper.

Funny thing about the Leapers scopes, I think the quality has gone down since the features and “Gens” went up. I’ve got a Leapers 3-12×40 on my Barnes .25 and it never needs adjustment unless I change the range I want to be dialed in at or the slug I want to use. Since I bought that scope, they went to the tactical turrets and none of those have performed as well and even the ones with bigger objectives don’t look any brighter. I’ll keep that Leapers on that gun forever unless it gets broken. If that happens, I’ll have to replace it with a much more expensive scope as the current 3-12s just don’t measure up.

Leupold on the .22lr never has to be adjusted.

Leapers on the condor adjusted weekly.

Both sit in the same room next to each other all the time, so I’m thinking it may be the scope.

I only adjust my scope on my condor when I leave it in my car’s trunt during a hot summer day. The frame expands because of the aluminum alloy. I noticed that red dots work very well with my condor, fx revo and air pistols. Never had to adjust it.

These guns are “WAY” hold sensitive. The lack of this is supposed to be one of the BIG advantages of a PCP over a Springer.

I for the life of me can’t see why AF mills the frame so thin at the breach. They could easily leave at least 3/16″ more material in the bottom of the breach. If not more. 😕

Milliing less material out of the Scope Rail would reallly stiffen these guns up. I notice that the new Edge has been improved in both areas.

Maybe they need to offer a Black Edge Frame. 😉

As long as the gun is ” Cradled” and not hugged it really is not an issue.

serg I have seen my POI shift from target to target because of the way I
hold the gun or pull the trigger…. I use to adjust the scope a lot due to
these changes. I started clamping the gun into my bench rest to zero it
and then leave it alone after that…. The only time I change it now is if it
is clamped and still seems to be off….

A two or three click ad. isn’t all that unusual if you are shooting paper at that range. The wind can be so light that you hardly notice it, but it changes day to day. It can make slight changes in poi at 50 yards easily. If you mostly hunt, you probably won’t notice it at all. 😉

I adjust it about 3 click (up) today at 50 yards, once adjusted its right on, i use the same pellets. Yesterday was windy so I blame the wind . Went out today (calm day) and it shot low. 3 clicks and it was sighted.

Last month I adjusted the side, 2 clicks did the job. I do carry it in my back seat of my truck, but it does not bounce around.

I did get a new order of JSB’s.

When I used a leapers 3-9x 50mm I adjusted it all the time. Since using Bushnell Legend or Elite hardly at all anymore.

Depending on how severe the changes are, this could be normal.

Different lot number or die number of the same brand of pellets can have a very slight change in POI.

Temperature can play a part in POI as well.

As a rule, however, once you sight in… you should be good.
