How Quiet Can The Condor Be? (No Shrouds, LDC, Frame Ext.)
As the title suggests, what level of noise should I expect from a Condor in .25 then .22 then .177? (With no quieting techniques used)
I would like to go with a nice compact 18″ barrel in a Condor buuuut I already see that the 24″ can be .22 LR loud! Obviously the 18″ would be even louder…
The question is… after some mods (Talon Tunes top hat and other quieting mods) what kind of sound levels should I expect from the standard Condor??? I believe this is the platform I am going to begin building off of, rather than a Condor SS, as the length of that frame is too long for my tastes.
The Condor obviously lacks the integral sound loc…but you will see me purchase a suppressor + $200 stamp BEFORE I use any popular air rifle shrouds, etc. I will always err on being safe than sorry. I do not care how many guys do it. (The grey areas of the law is not something I will fool with regarding rifle suppression devices. Period. But thats just me!)

Are you saying that just the TT tophat mod + heavy pellets does the trick?
No – that was a Condor SS – I’m saying even with the Soundlock system, it was loud without some tuning. Without any kind of silencer your options are loud, or very low power.

You’ll have to throttle the velocity **way** back to get any semblance of quiet. Even with the ‘SS’ from the factory, my condor was quite loud – probably louder than a .22 – shooting ‘standard’ pellets. It wasn’t until I went with heavier pellets and adjusted the tophat (and eventually got a TT tophat) that things got really quiet.
My first PCP was a Benjamin Discovery. Without a silencer (moderator, shroud, LDC, whatever you want to call it) it was LOUD – easily comparable to a .22 rimfire. After adding a TKO “shroud” it was scarcely audible – to the point that I had to shoot through a board or similar to prove to people that it was actually working.
If you want a powerful airgun, it’s going to be loud, or moderated. If you want a quiet (un-moderated) airgun it’s going to have relatively low energy. Probably plenty for zapping starlings at close range, but if you have aspirations of knockin’ ’em down at 50 yards, it’s going to be loud, or need a moderator.

your going to have to have a silencer, my condor regulated at 1600 psi w/24” barrel was stupid loud!, with a moderator is just the mechanically noise of the gun… mouse fart
