Q:

How quiet is your "quiet….??"

I have a Talon… it is a 12″ , .25 cal…
I vented the front bushing ( 8 )( 3/16″ holes ), and the frame ( 5 )( 1/8″ holes ).
The gun came with an R&L 4 baffle shroud…and has R&L extreme valve/hammer..
Wondering if a longer shroud would do better or possible to start clipping…?

You guys/gals with the silent types…are we talking ” Nerf-Gun-Quiet..?”

Would like the muzzle report to be quieter, not ready to do the hammer slap, but that may be what I’ m hearing…

So it sounds like a Shart instead of a Fart?

Ha!! I knew I registered on the rite forum…. 😛
I could just about imagine a TAG forum member get together of all the members at one location…..WOW….

Does your guns discharge also leave a bad odor a few seconds later…..????[/quote]

No, and since I have been taking Alpha Lipoic Acid for prostrate problems, even a ‘smart fellar’ 🙄 like you would definitely know the difference :8:
But you were asking for sound advice so I didn’t elaborate 😆

You don’t want to vent the last bushing. You will get air in your face and the blast will make your PW move on lower pre load.

I had mine moving from just the air leaking around the bushing and the barrel.

That was the type of clarity I was looking for…
The vented air under my forearm made quite some noise, I remedied it by cutting a piece of felt to fit in the forearms recess. The felt absorbs the compression.
Have had thoughts of venting the rear bushing but was worried about gassing around the power dial…spose if I didnt like the result I could tap and plug the holes with set screws or buy a new bushing.

To try and be a totally clear question …maybe manual staple gun, nerf gun, pneumatic finish nailer/ stapler….???

Drop a tennis ball onto the floor from about hip height, it will be louder than my rifle at the shot. In fact, the sound is about the same as a pingpong ball hitting the floor. More of a higher pitched tic than the thump of a tennis ball.

Clear enough?

Joekidd, 1st you have to get the banging sound :banghead: :banghead: out of your head.

Then try to imagine a squirty whoosh sound. heh, sorta like a real moist fart with your cheeks squeezed tight ❗

Well, sorry but that’s the best I can do considering my age and bad hearing 😳

With your gun being as quiet as you may think, you can make the pellet impact quiet if you use absorbent material like putty, but when you do so, you’ll start hearing the gun’s report again. 🙄

Hey Joe,

I have a mouse fart quit shroud and live in Minnesota.

PM sent.

I uderstand the projectile ( bullet / pellet / etc… ) will / can make an enormous amount of the sound.

This is my first pcp/ hpa gun and do not know anyone personally with a ” quiet ” gun.
Reading through post after post. I’ve heard comments like…; silent, nothing but the hammer slap, ….my all time fave- “Mouse-Fart-Quiet”….

So for the big Q ; can we compare a .25cal/ 12″bbl, with my set-up ( pellet impact not a variable )… to some noise making object I can relate to..?

To try and be a totally clear question …maybe manual staple gun, nerf gun, pneumatic finish nailer/ stapler….???

This is a never-ending discussion, what is quiet enough?

Longer is not always quieter. Internal baffle design and proper venting go a long way to making a gun quiet. Internal volume, more is better but the blast needs to be directed away from the final exit hole.

All I can tell you for sure is, you can NEVER make the .25 pellet impact quieter. That is often the loudest part of my shots, and it does attract attention if people are around.

Making your gun quiet does not guarantee you wont be heard.
I shoot ground squirrels for neighbors every year. Rarely do any of them hear my gun but they often hear the pellet hitting that squirrel. Dogs will start barking a quarter-mile away if I use Predator or Crow Magnum pellets, its that loud.
I can shoot into my pellet trap all day though, and never a peep from the dogs or neighbors.
