Q:

How to measure hammer spring weight

I see lots of posts relating to hammer spring weight, but have not found any posts on how to measure it. Is there an “industry standard” on how to measure spring weight? How is it done?
Cheers

It is how much pressure does it take to compress a spring 1 inch . You can test with a bolt ran threw the spring and adding weight to it . Here is a calculator that is not the best but will give you reference points .Marvin

Stock spring is 4.2 lbs. Spring weight is wire material, wire dia, and how many coils. I look in my century spring catalog and match it up to a spring they make. Any other spring rates I say are springs I purchased and know the rates.
