Hi all, I’m a new member here –
I finally received a .25 WST Cricket and really do like this gun – it shoots a bit hot and I’m looking for a few mods to do down the road. Already cleaned the barrel which wasn’t too bad and read all I could before taking the plunge. Did I already say “I really like the gun”? Very impressive groupings at 30yrs, i.e. hole in hole bench rested – but a bit loud for my taste – already chrony’ed (is that even a word?) and its pushing Benji domes 27.8 gr. at an avg of 926 fps from 180 bar as indicated on the gauge. 😯
I really want to tone it down a bit – I’m not hunting bear, bobcats or anything just paper and cans. Trying to gain accuracy and better skills at a max of maybe 60 ~ 70 yards. I’m also looking for Ernest to grab an O-ring kit, degasser tool and out of the rifle regulator tester. I’ll PM him for those once I break her in a bit more.

Thanks Keyser and Eelect for the excellent advice – I’ll push it out a bit further to make sure she’s still accurate. I really don’t want to change too much but will enjoy the speed and power for now – and the way she shoots I don’t really want to change a thing. That shroud sounds like it may be the ticket. My neighbors aren’t too nosey and it’s not as loud as a PB.
Yes airguns have come a long way since I was a kid too! Much louder and away faster. You will put an eye out if you’re not careful. 😯
I would also recommend leaving it alone and shoot it and get used to it. If its one holing at 30 some odd yards take it to 50 and see if it hold together. remeber accuracy is key. Don’t mess with it if it shoots good. Mine didn’t and had to mess with it so just enjoy it.
I would leave it alone. I thought the same thing, turning down the speed but after I put some time behind the trigger at ranges exceeding 100 yards I have decided to leave the gun at 930 with the exact kings. I have the Clauge 2 piece shroud currently on my Cricket and I think it works very well. Good luck with the gun in the future and congrats on the new purchase. When I was a kid I lived close to Beeman in HB. I used to dream about the old Crow Magnum Beeman as I wore that old 1983 Catalog out. I never dreamed air rifles would become like the Cricket. I guess we airgunners are all just grown 14 year olds. Happy shooting.

+1 for leave well enough alone – for now. Shoot it as is to get it broken in. Need quiet ? This is how i achieve that. Makes it a good bit longer though so i shoot it without the Can attached, mostly. With the Can on the only noise you hear is the hammer slap.
