HST adjustment

Update on gun. I didn’t get too far on the HST adjustments this weekend. Friday night I was degassing my gun using Ernest’s degasser tool. Usually I control the knob and turn it slowly until I hear air come out. If I hear too much air coming out, I slowly close it. Well dman started sending me love messages through my cellphone so I figured I let the air out slowly. I put the air tube on the table and walked away. Jaime and I were exchanging text until late at night and I eventually forgot about the air tube. The next day I checked the gauge and it still showed 20 bars. However, the degasser was screwed as far down as possible. Scratching my head, I decided to fill the gun back up to 100 bars and then degass again. When I degassed, the air was coming out really slow and eventually stopped at around 90 bars. I called Ernest and he said it might be a bad air gauge and since the degasser is turned down as much as possible, the air tube was probably empty. However, there might still be air left in the regulator. Over the phone, Ernest said most of the time he bleeds the air out through the air gauge. I was like i am not going to attempt that. They put a sticker there that says under pressure do not remove for a reason lol. He assured me that it is ok, just unscrew slowly until you hear the air come out. Well I was about to do it but decided to give the degasser tool one last try and this time it worked! However, it stopped at 1 bar. At 1 bar I have more confident bleeding from the air gauage than 100 bars. I have a phobia of balloons popping so yes I am a chicken Ernest! I unscrewed it like ERnest said and it worked. Totally drained the last bar of air in there.

Here was my suspicion, I have a vinyl tube halfway inside the air gauge as a depinger. My guess was that it failed and got pushed all the way against the regulator and preventing air from leaving. However, to my surprise, it actually held up and was still located halfway in the tube. So no idea what is going on. I changed all the orings, lubed and filled it back up to 100b. Degassed it and this time it did it with no problem. Totally drained down to 0 bars.

Tomorrow I’ll play around with the HST adjuster to get my gun shooting 890 fps. I forgot to mention that I changed my regulator setting from 100 b to 120 b.

xbangu, to answer your question, yes do 1/4 of a turn and that should get you from 130 to 100 bars. When I increased 1/2 a turn it jumped from 100 b to 150. So then I turned it back 1/4 of a turn, it got me to 130 Bars. I then turned it just slightly more to get to 120 b.

Thanks bang, I have Ernest’s regulator setter/tester so I know it’s at 100b. I haven’t changed the o-rings so that’ll probably be the first thing I do and set it to around 115b.
