Q:

Hummingbird; 100 yards yet? is it a CZ barrel?

As in the subject line, anyone had a “shot” at 100 yard groups with the Hummingbird yet? Also, about who makes the barrel; I see on the Kalibrgun website that it lists CZ barrels for the Cricket, but it’s shown like this Barrel: CZ (LW). So I wonder who’s supplying barrels for the HB. I’d prefer the CZ barrels because they are known to be accurate, and I haven’t heard any negatives about htem, whereas I’ve heard the LW barrels went through some quality issues, as with Edgun. Of course if the gun shoots MOA at 100 yards I won’t complain about who’s barrel it wears.

GKU I can’t post groups as I have had continuing problems with my “birdy”. I am loathe to update my “update” post until I have a permanent resolution (pending). But Hoot: is right.

I do I agree with Tofazou’s post on the Yellow (http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/thread/1419733138/Should+50+yards+be+the+standard+distance+today- ) that expensive airguns aren’t done justice to post groups at less than 50 yards. Accuracy (sub-MOA) at anything less than 50 yards is practically a bygone conclusion anymore. I feel that sub-MOA groups at 50+ yards tells the tale of money well spent (or not). 100 yards takes the gun and the finger on the trigger to task in a more challenging way, in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not that great a shot, but it’s a challenge to strive for that seems more worthy of the price paid for expensive airguns. Now, the HB is not the most expensive PCP out there. That CZ barrel and the shooter will be tested at long ranges. I’m speaking of using pellets right from the tin, unsorted. Heck sub-MOA at 50+ helps insure a humane kill of pests closer in, British style with head shots. But again, I’m letting it go. We know Hoot: has our best interests at heart. :winkn:

I can’t speak as an expert because I can’t see 100 yards, with or without a scope…so listen to the kid!!!

Hey don’t bash the boy he just likes to play with his birdy. :biggrinn:

Just joking there Darryl, post some of your target grouping well ya.

Hoot: you’re right, no doubt. Let it go! Let it go!!!

Darryl…just let it go. No one here gives a shit, or no ‘Bird owner can accurately shoot past 50-60 yards with a .22 cailber. After the .25 calibers come out, that would be a different matter.

My guess…the “Bird can shoot with the same accuracy as any other .22 airgun, with the same muzzle velocities, at 100 yards. Heavier pellets, and higher muzzle velocities would be a real plus on the Hummingbird’s accuracy factor! Any air movement is going to do bad things at that distance with light, slower moving pellets. I’d think you would want to get 18/21gr. up over 900 fps. I believe Ernest said he could push them that fast, and get up to 35 fpe as well. That’s what I want.
