Hummingbird Misfire
I ran some shots over the chrony today was getting 890s with 18 JSB. Fired two full mags. Once while firing it did not fire, I had to cock it again as it never released air. Thought maybe I did not close the bolt or something. So I adjusted the power up a little, to 910 fps. Fired 3 more mags. The same thing happened two more times. When I cocked it again it fired. Once I had to do cock it 3 times before it fired. After that I shot a couple more mags and it did not do it again. I have fired over 1300 shots so far and this was the first glitch. Whats up?

Maybe that is what it is, and I am not getting it shoved in all the way. One thing I noticed since I oiled it up good, the action works a lot smother & it is not doing it with the JSBs. I was shooting 40 yards today. I was getting tighter groups with the 15 grain. I shot a few 5 shot groups that were 5/16. They must be flying near 970, since the 18 gr are 940. I was surprised that the 15 gr ones would do better than the 18, especially at that speed.
Could be the thicker skirt on the B’s are harder to push into the breech.

I shot @ least 300 shots today, as long as I used JSB 15 or 18 , never had any problems, but for some reason when I used 21 Barracudas would have a misfire every few shots, this does not make any sense to me ❓ . It really is not a problem as the JSBs is what I usually use anyway. However when I first had it do it was with JSBs.
Looks good.
Shot 2 full mags of 21 Grain Barracudas. Done the “pop” thing 5 times. Shot 7 full mags of JSB 18.1 , flawless, perfect. From a fill of 4000 psi here is 3 mags of the JSBs. Guess I wont shoot the barracudas.

Don’t let him bullshit you Oldkid, he cried like a baby while it was gone. He could hardly sleep at night, tossed and turned kept his wife up and she finally made he sleep out in the shed.
Ernest and Oldkid,
A couple of the symptoms sounded kind of like my Cricket when the valve stem came loose from the poppet. It never came all the way but it was loose. Oh, and Ernest, got my Cricket back yesterday, just had enough time to sight it in and shoot a couple of mags but it’s looking good. :smilen: :smilen:
jk
Take a coney of one full mag—what to see if the reg is operating properly.
Maybe some small dirt of some kind plug the hp fill in the reg—- vary small hole to control the flow to the regulated chamber. Keep me posted!!!
Ok , I will chrony it some tomorrow. Will let you know. Thanks
Wow, now I have greater view of your problem, let’s do some trouble shooting!

Just my two cents but that’s a lot of cock! Have fun and be safe.
Thanks, When I cock it, slide bolt forward then pull trigger hear snap , sounds like tiny bit of air, but does not launch pellet Then I cock it again and it fires. I just went out side and tired it again. The very first shot did not launch pellet, makes a snap and hear a little air like “pop”. About half of that mag did the same thing. Then I put another mag in and it fired all flawlessly. Funny thing this just started. I am working the bolt firmly back and forward, so it should be locking up.
UPDATE….
Just tried again, filled to 4000 psi. Shot 3 full mags as fast as I could acquire bulls eye. Flawless. 42 shots all in the same ragged 3/8 inch hole @ 32 yards. Fired every time. I wonder if there was a small object or dirt causing the glitch. This time I did take those sideplates off and oiled some of the mehanics.
What you mean not firing?? cock 3 times???—->what do you hear when you pull the trigger????—–nothing???? hammer slap with no air coming out??? shear not engaging ???, insure you fully cock the cocking handle till you hit metal back stop—-sometime I forget to do that and shear failed to engage. also if bolt not close all the way the cocking lever inside the breech will prevent the hammer from fully opening the VS or not at all, that’s a safety to prevent full air blast to your face when you forget to close the bolt when you pull the trigger. I know the HB inside and out in details so when I read you problem more questions I need to trouble shoot the glitch.
