Hummingbird or Vulcan in .22
So I just sold a rifle and want to buy a smaller bullpup, love my edgun r3m, it’s my go to gun over my .25 cricket (heavy synthetic) and was curious about the size of HB is it really 620mm (24.5″) or are they the same size as Vulcan, different sites quote different sizes. I’m looking for an easy to shoot from truck/ hike quickly up a hill gun. I am on list for Lelya but wonder if it will happen before summer. Thanks to any lucky person who has both of these guns and can share there thought.

Good questions, but now I am more torn, I use to think… why would anyone shoot a .22 when they can have .25. My cricket .25 was amazing to me when I first got it, very rarely missed, and lots of power, then I got a Edgun R3m in .22 it was much smaller lighter than black .25 cricket. started shooting Edgun a lot, tuned it to 907fps, 2.6 SD, 6.9 ES and was blow away at the reg ability on Edgun. So the first idea I had to get the Lelya was because the Crows call me out when they see me and I don’t have my airgun. Lelya would allow me to always have it near. Colbri looks very compact but a bit longer than Lelya but powerful and accurate, now the damn Vulcan looks bitchin in .25 and I am lost now. To keep the crows from mocking me, the Lelya seems best, for fun factor its a toss between Vulcan and Colibri, Ernest sold me on the phone that Colibri was the best gun he had shot, now I heard his gaze has fallen on the Taipan!!!!
Tractdesign , ask yourself two questions : (1) How short of a rifle will work for you ? (2) What is the best caliber gun you really want ?
You may not be able to find exactly what you want . You are going to have three choices . A single shot , a repeater , and a semi-auto .
The Taipan Shortie looks to be the shortest , but will it come in a .25 caliber ? The Lelya does come in a .25 caliber , but it may never be
offered again since ED is working on a lot of projects ? I find myself asking basically the same questions except . I want a bullpup in .25
caliber and I want it to be a semi-auto . The new SPA Hammerless is a semi-auto in .22 caliber and the Vulcan is a repeater that will be in
.25 caliber when it comes out this summer . The Vulcan will be shorter than the SPA which is a plus , also it will be in the caliber that I desire
the most . I will have to wait and see if the SPA will be offered in .25 caliber and if not . Then I’ll buy the Vulcan even though it will not be in
a semi-auto at least I will have a repeater in the caliber that I really want . Hope this may be of some help in your decison to figure out what
you really want in your PCP Air Rifle .

I think he meant the Lelya is single shot and loud. The Bird is multi shot and quiet. The Lelya is quite a bit smaller than the Bird (7-8″ I believe).

wow, all that information just confused me, I am a big fan of the 25 cal, Oh I love the 22 and the shot count , But the 25 thump still has my first choice,,,

The Leyla will not be as quiet as the Colibri. The Hummingbird is single shot. Both are well built, wonderful, petite guns, with a pretty serious punch.
I got the Colibri .22 up to 37 fpe and it still remained quiet. The shot count went to hell, but it hit as hard as any .22 pcp I’ve ever owned.
I haven’t seen the Vulcan. If you are not an Edgun fan, I’d get the Vulcan in .22 or .25 caliber, since it seems to be a Cricket, Part II…New and Improved! Or so it seems.

Thanks! I am intrigued by the stated quietness of the HB, and the ability to tune it without having to rip it apart each time, oh the debate weather to stick with the buying the Lelya if it ever comes or the HB.
If you want quiet the bird is the way to go. The gun does not ping, and the shroud works very well. When I posed that same question to Ernest he recommended the Colibri. The rumor is the Colibri .25 is coming out this summer…
My HB is 28″ long and it weighs 7 Lbs. 15.1 Oz. with a 4-16×44 SF C/P scope that’s 14″ long and about 18 Oz. of the weight.
I did send my gun to Ernest for an air leak repair. I like the size and feel of it, real thin and a 14 shot mag.
If it was any shorter I’d probably shoot my left hand while resting it over my arm. :suprisedn:
I wanted a small, lite, accurate .22 compact type of BP. Just what I wanted.
I put a little cheap fake 3d vinyl carbon fiber wrap to protect the AT from hand abbrasion.
I agree, I would not want it any shorter.
My Compact Cricket is 24.5″ and perfect for me and just fits a Caldwell Deadshot at it’s shortest setting and it has no problem reaching 900 fps with .177 JSB 10.34s. I am anxious to see how a Taipan Shortie will fit at 22 3/4″ long. Regardless Both are perfect to carry around the outside of my house to nail marauding birds that like to peck on the cedar siding. :4:
At 20.4″ the Lelya is starting to get a bit short for me to handle but still viable and similar to my P-Rod w/ LDC. If only it was a multi-shot. It has a novel design and is so well built if nothing else.

I have wondered that as well. WWAG advertises 28″ which is way too big for me.

I heard the .25 Vulcan and it’s kinda loud. I think it’s a little louder than my EDgun .25. The Colibri in comparison was like a 12 foot pound gun. I cannot believe that gun is throwing an 18.1 at 880 and it sounds like the gun is broken. No ping no sound. Add a LDC and you would have super stealth. I talked to Peter at TGAG and he said that the Colibri .25 would be out in the summer. If you want a .22 go for the bird, if the .25 tickles you I would wait for the Colibri.
