Q:

Hydro Testing

I bought a used SS and the tank is out of hydro. What are most of you doing for this? I know that the manual says to contact AirForce.

That’s basically why I decided against it…To lazy to remove the valve 😆 But that does bring up an excellent point about it, Since airforce didn’t seem to care about the valve being removed by them..which is why I contacted them to begin with…I guess that’s the way you can get a new valve for you condor, just gotta wait five years 😆 😆

Its law that HP vessels over a certain diameter be hydro’d every 5 years. Carbon fiber and fiberglass wrapped tanks is every 3 years.

If we took our tanks to a dive store to get them filled they wouldnt touch them without rehydroing them. Because we fill them ourselves I doubt there are many people who do…

SO… if anyone has removed their valve and it has then broken and you think your shit out of luck getting it fixed for free… go get the tank hydroed, put the valve back in and send it back under warranty to AF, if they say that the valve had been removed you just have to say “Well I had to get it hydroed BY LAW… are you suggesting I dont hydro a pressure vessel?”

So what is the recommended Hydro for the tanks…. ?

When I was worried about hydro on my tank I contacted airforce, they told me to contact the manufactuer who in turn told me to look locally and ask the scuba place where I got it filled…which got their stuff hydro’d by the local fire department…In the end I decided not to bother with it 😆

That is what I thought. I am filling from a 4500 SCUBA that I fill at the Fire Station so no one is really going to check the hydro.

in short… I think most people do nothing….
