Q:

I ALMOST ordered a Mini Mill…..

…. Until I saw a shipping charge of $214 😯

I guess I’ll have to wait for a Truck Sale to come around.

Thats to bad. I get my stuff the same day or the next.

They must like me more 🙄

I’m on all too familiar terms with LMS from getting stuff for my lathe.. My only beef with them (other than my lightened wallet) is that they are on the wrong coast so it takes at least a week to get supplies… BUT I will be making an order with them soon. Only thing worse than waiting for a new toy, is being unable to use it when it arrives because you dont have all the accessories.

Now it is time to get friendly with Littlemachineshop.

Look at ebay for R8 collets.

These end mills have served me well

I have this vise and am very happy. I took it off its base though

You also will need to get some parallels as well. If you have a stand and a dial indicator to tram your vise you will be all set to get started.

I didnt have the Cummins flyer so I just printed out the internet page showing $399… Was worried that might be an issue, with how easy it is to change stuff like that.

Arrived at the store, filled in the special order slip and took it to register. Put the Cummins printout on counter and asked if they price match…. no questions or arguments and they didn’t even seem to check the printout, just looked at the price and changed the price in register – $420 after tax!! Much nicer than the $624 that it would have cost me from Cummins. Probably show up next Thursday which gives me some time to order collets and end mills.

Plenty of stuff in the store, but NO mill/lathe accessories or tooling even though they had the Mini and Micro lathe’s out on display and in stock. Micro lathe is Minute !!

There you go. Show them the cummins flyer and point out it has all the exact same features.

😀

Now the adventure begins.

I found the harbor freight fly for the ship to store thing while I was working this morning… and they FINALLY have stores near me. Just called and its $599 for the Mill if I go down there, order and pay and then go back in a week or so to pick it up.

If I take a Cummins Tool flyer that has a $399 price you think they’ll match that? I also found a harbor freight flyer that has a $479 price for direct to store shipped items…. So hoping they will honor that.

Update –

Just called HF and they will defintly match their own $479 flyer price, and I’m going to print out the $399 price at Cummins just to give it a short. Even at $479 its a lot cheaper than the Cummins is after shipping and I get to pick it up and have a store to deal with if anythings wrong.

And they have some 15% discount cupons right now good through 7/21/08.

So get a move on!!!

Actually, if you talk to your local Harbor Freight store manager you can often get away with no shipping by having them send it to that store on their regular trucks. You just gotta go there to pick it up when it comes in.

I did this when I got my lathe.

I did that for my mill also. Not only that I brought in an add from Homier for $400 and the manager matched the price.

From Harbour Frieght the charge should be like $65.

Just a suggestion. Not all Minimills are equal. I suggest you get one with the R8 collet, the tooling is much cheaper and available.
