I attacked my talon valve early this morning…

…before I even had a cup of coffee 😯

You know your addicted when you go to your airguns before your morning “Joe” 😆

Anyway, I followed the “sticky” Talon valve mod by Mike V and Robert…

I went into this knowing that if I “F#@ked it up” I would buy a condor valve stem.

I put the stem in my vise and slowly/carefully (well, as careful as you can wiht a hand held drill) bored it out to .125″ I don’t recommend this method, it is ideal to use a press as instructed in the “sticky”.

Next I deburred then smeared my .125″ bit with a gritty compound and ran it through the valve stem a few times. Then I went to Q-tips with a medium and finally a fine FLITZ paste

I polished up the top hat where it meets the breech/bolt and I did some other minor polishing…

look at the picture below to see the difference between the condor valve spring retainer and the Talon spring retainer. The Condor spring is much softer than the Talon spring.

Can someone please tell me what size O-rings I will need to replace the ones that were on this valve? This is my first time taking apart an Airforce Valve. I have plenty of O-rings…but I want to make sure I am using the right ones. Thanks

Yeah, I know I should have slowly increased the drill bit sizes, but I just went for it with the .125″. I am glad I did not destroy it…well, I’ll let you know after it gets whacked a few times by the hammer 👿 Hopefully it wont cave in 😯

Yeah, I am going to get on board with that reg as well. I’ve always wanted a gauge on my condor anyway…this will be an added benefit 😎

I use mine quite a bit. Before I was scared to death to take off that valve, and would not.

I had heard too many horror stories about pipe wrench teeth marks and hammering those valves with punches.

Now it is a magazine wrap in the vice and that tool.

As usual if it comes from Jim or Tagdagger or Subsonnic, it works.

That is why that etacreg will be a hot seller, faith in things known.

Sounds great 80 you should be at around that for speeds I would think! Nice of you to take time with the kids I know I have some grand kids and we always shoot when they come over one of them that lives close by wants to fix up an old crosman pump air pistol so I told him I can help him with that paint it up and it can be his to keep here and shoot until he gets older he can have it, I like helping them out and watching them shoot targets he likes the tin cans more action I guess!!

I can’t take credit for the valve spring retainer, hell I’d never dish out anything that perfectly…it came that way in my stock Condor valve. I only polished it up. I attacked all the parts again and now they are mirror like.

I did some 60 yard soda can shooting in the woods with my company tonight and four neighborhood kids. I used my AAA condor bottle and was sending JSB exact 16 grainers 990 fps. My SS is a laser. I was stacking them in the same hole at 20 yards. We used that and my BSA Scorpion…hopefully those kids will drive their dads nuts and they will call me wanting to drop some coin. I’ll start em off with a nice custom 22xx. I doubt they will drop the kind of coin that it takes to come over to the DARKSIDE 😈

I’m hoping my Talon valve gets me 900 fps with the 16 gr JSB’s. I’ll keep you posted.

Sorry Jim, I figured your VRT is a “household name” by now…I can’t say enough about how easy it makes removal. The vale on the Talon tank came off much easier. Only a few whacks. Thanks again.
