LOL… I was wondering who the asshole would be…. leave it up to old chubby fingers himself 😆

yep, that key “had” a spring as well, I do believe that was the first thing I did was to get rid of it 😉 … shit.. there aint even a tool in the post yet 🙄 you’re right tho.. bad habit, once I get the coffin all set up I’ll have some were to hang it so it will have a home.

nope still haven’t got the 5 incher yet, I did open up the i/d of the chuck, sanded down the jaws a wee bit and this has helped alot… but I do need to get one asap!

gear… I got this one at one of those cummings tent sales that use to roll through town, I don’t think they are around anymore but all if the china lathes are built in the same place. I went for this one because of the price and it came with all the goodies that some of the other don’t… ie.. rests, follows plate, dog and so on… I think it was around $400 or $450 out the door…. and your right … the shit still gets every were!

edit.. yes it cuts threads very well!

Wok has situation awareness issues so he just presumes everyone is the same… 😆 😆 😆 😆

I’m sure he unplugs his lathe every time he wipes the ways clean or changes a tool. 😉

Nice set up GTBJ, I need to make one of those for my mill, damn thing covers everything in chips, i’m sick of cleaning it up all the time.

No I was being funny. But I do leave it in and have never had a problem. I bought a bison collet chuck and the chuck key “had” a spring and a collar on it so you couldn’t leave it in. It made it a pain to tighten the chuck and you couldn’t just spin it with a finger.

Why? It’s ready for the next part. I do the same thing and I know its not right but I’ve been doing it like that for so long it’s hard to break the habbit.

For the same reason you don’t leave your finger on the trigger when not shooting 🙂

Lots of folks have been doing that too for a long time 😉
