Q:

I had an idea for a "Spartan Wokbutt"

I thought about putting together a shoulder piece with no bells and whistles.

It only has 1 threaded hole and 2 tank mounting holes to adjust for height. No sling stud, and no holes to keep weight down.

It weighs 3.8 oz compared to the 3 oz of the Wokbutt.

It’s given a powder coat finish but it is applied when fully assembled which cuts down on time.

I call it the “Spartan” Wokbutt because it is simple and tough.

Of all the million pics of modded AFs that have been posted, I really can’t recall one that has a sling on it.

Mine did!

That is true and I may just have to stop including the sling stud in future runs. Brownells 2x the cost recently for them…the bastards.

And that NEW Wokbutt without the stud would be about .8 ounces lighter (not heavier) than the original. 😉

FWIW, the sling stud is a nice touch, but if I was you, I’d get rid of it and just leave a hole if people want to buy and install one.

Sling studs aren’t cheap unless you buy a million of them…. Eliminating that feature will cut your manufacture cost dramatically.

[2cents] How much less can you really sell them for and still have it worth your time? Now you’ll have “x” amount of people wanting one and “x” amount wanting the other. If it were my design, I’d just stick with the original, it’s not like they aren’t selling lol. [/2cents]

I say it looks fine and does what it’s supposed to. The extra oz won’t make a difference. If it cuts back on your time and the cost, go for it.

what would be the price compared with the wok?

I am just toying with the idea for now and have not made up my mind.

That 8/10ths of an ounce is nothing compared to 24″ barrels, tri rails, lazers and Shrouds as well as bipods.

Stop being a pussy. Besides I gave you a Wokubutt for nothing so stop whining 😛

I personally would never get one. I can’t imagine how back heavy and off balance that .8oz would make the gun. It would probably restrict you to prone shooting only.
