I have a few questions for the gurus on my 2550..
..disco carbine build.
It will be a PCP. First of all do I need to put anything on the pipe threads on the fill port and the gauge port/gauge….????
And secondly, I have already destroyed an O ring trying to get the gauge port assembly past the gauge port opening in the tube. I lightly lubed the inside of the air tube with silicone grease, I lubed up the o rings as well, but when it gets to the gauge port opening in the tube it binds up and protrudes and if you force it past that point it “shaves” rubber off of the o ring.
I wondered if I can put the gauge port–with o rings installed–into the freezer to “contract” the rubber making it slide in easy??? Is this a good idea???
Or I can gently press on the protruding rubber with a plastic tool as I gemtly push it past the gauge port opening…but I don’t want to risk shaving any rubber again. PLEASE ADVISE!!! Thanks guys.

Can you drill it and put in a self tapping screw to pull on?

Thanks RC, but that would be one long drill bit and even if I suceeded in getting it done…in the end it would be easier just to take the gun apart….
Maybe just let gun sit for a while and get back to room temperature??
BTW..if your 2550 starts leaking…check the friggin’ fill=adapter……mine was leaking from the factory!! Put about 3 inches of water in a glass,stick fill plug (with tube pressurized!!) and see if ya get any bubbles..I had to remove mine and dis-assemble..found one little bitty black speck of something????? on the seat, cleaned re-installed, put 1000psi in gun..NO MORE BUBBLES 😀 😀

BTW..I tried installing the gauge adapter and the valve in from the rear end…WOULD NOT WORK—way too many holes for o-rings to slip by…once I tried from the muzzle end..I got the valve and the gauge adapter both in there, on the first try, blew out the excess water, and they STILL haven’t leaked ANY air…that was like TWO weeks ago 😎 😎
NOTE…o-rings from local hardware store…$0.35 each , 5/8″ x 3/4″ , work just as well as the Crosman o=rings that cost $1.15 each 😀 😀 😀
That sounds good as well packrat. I just got in from the garage and I was able to get it together with the silicone. I also put in the gauge adapter in through the muzzle end, however I put the valve in through the breech end (carefully) so far it is holding air (45 minutes and counting…)
I have another dilema which is very frustrating. I finally got my stainless 2260 cart pistol together and shooting hard and accurate. It seems I will have to break it down for the removal of a co2 cartrige. I should have known better when it resisted a little bit going in. I suppose they do not machine these perfectly…does JSB make “exact” 12 gr carts 😆
Has this happened to any one else? I imagine the only way to remove it is by removing the valve…but if anyone knows another way??? Please advise. Thanks.

I used water in a spray bottle, with about 2 teaspoons of dishwashing detergent, same as if you were putting “tint” on your windows….don’t FREAK OUT, you use compressed air and get rid of what little water/soap remains, once you get gauge in place…….you have to slide the gauge in slowly, watching for o-ring as it gets to hole…I use just the edge of my thumbnail(wet with the spray solution) to push down the o-ring as it tries to “bunch up”, while slowly easy the gauge on in

let me re-phrase that..the O-Rings from my local hardware store are working just as well in my Disco, as the high-priced Crosman o-rings…YMMV !!
Perhaps the orings are too big? try the next size smaller.
use thread tape on pipe threads and stay back 1 thread to keep shreds of tape out of the gun.

break the edges of the gauge hole and use a tool as you mentioned to press teh oring below the tube. Lube is good as well.
