Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the reply. I plan to completely disassemble the rifle at some point to clean and lube everything. I am enjoying shooting it for now, even though it is not adjusted 100% to my liking. It is an amazing rifle in accuracy, and power. I wish there was some detailed info out there on tuning, maintenance, etc.. I assume that when there are more of them around, some more info will become available.
Take care, Mike

Mike,
Yeah, I’ve put roughly 750 pellets downrange with the vulcan and the funny thing is the only time I used the little brass lockout thingy (item 78) was to troubleshoot the fail to feed issue that it was causing. (It was a brilliant find but I eventually concluded it was doing exactly what it was designed to do….ha) Now that I know what it does, I never engage it nor have found a need.

On the shroud removal, I haven’t tried to remove it since I torqued the barrel port out of alignment. You should be able to unthread the shroud as the manual shows but if the barrel spins, just use the little screw in front of the breech (item 50 in the manual diagram) to realign. When done, back the screw off so it doesn’t push the barrel out of alignment with the body breech (item 66). I left it far enough into the barrel to help with counter torque for when I attempt the shroud removal project again. I did pull a patch through the barrel but inserted a short segment of tubing to help bypass the porting. Like yourself, I pull the shroud off my other rifles so eventually will get to the shroud removal.

You have my sympathies on finding interested parties when it comes to air guns. I’m pretty sure I’m the only one the pulls out air guns at the range these days. I’ve found this forum and GTA might be our best hope for helping the addiction.

Enjoy the vulcan.

Jeff

Hi moosetooth, thanks for the response. I also bought my Vulcan from TGAG. Mine got lost in the mail for over a month, It was very frustrating. Long story.
The little mag lock thingy is sort of a mystery to me. So, if I want to pull the bolt back without having the magazine advance, then I lock it. OK, but I just cannot think of a scenario when I am concerned about that? Double feed? OK, so let’s say I load a pellet into the chamber, the bolt is closed, then I want to open the bolt again, why? Am I out stalking in the woods, and I decide I need to open my bolt? Am I going to change magazines to use a different weight pellet? Any way I figure it, if I want to open the bolt, can’t I just pull the mag out. If I pull back on the bolt, and I feel no resistance, then I know the striker is already cocked, simple to realize, and then I pull the mag, close the bolt, fire, reinsert mag. Maybe I just don’t get why the manufacturer is being required to go to the expense of making that little pin for no real apparent/ urgent reason. I must be missing something here. I would much rather see the addition of a super solid mag retention pin, but I do very much see your point about the probe locking the mag in palace.
On the subject of removing the shroud, I would really like to remove my barrel to clean it well, and have better access for lubricating the bolt mechanism. Was it pretty difficult to remove the shroud? Would it possibly make sense to remove the barrel, clamp it in a vice between 2 wooden V blocks, then remove the shroud?
I can see cleaning the barrel with a patchworm or a Crown saver, but I would rather have the shroud off.
Sorry to ramble, I just don’t have anybody to talk to about this stuff, but myself 🙂 My girlfriend, and other friends have no clue why anybody would be interested in shooting air guns 😯
Mike

I’ve had the 22 vulcan via Bori for about 2 months.

The purpose of the little brass pin is to prevent the magazine from advancing forward when you pull the bolt back. Ultimately it’ll prevent a double feed if you feel the need to pull the bolt back without firing. I too almost trimmed mine after thinking it locked the magazine in place but that resulted in shooting once followed with failure to feeds. (The bolt itself in the forward locked position fully constrains the magazine so the little brass pin isn’t needed for that). I also had to really look through the manual to figure out its purpose as it isn’t explicit.

The only other issue I ran into was I twisted the barrel when trying to remove the shroud. That resulted in misalignment of the barrel feed port so no pellet cometh when I pulled the trigger. In case anyone runs into this, the little fastener in front and on top of the breech is used to realign. Just use it to realign but don’t tighten to the bottom or the breech o-ring will erode or snag on the bolt. Both Topgun-airguns and AGT helped me out with that little issue via email and all is working very well. Great support from both Petr and AGT to date.

Great little gun.

Jeff

Do that if you feel it’s needed. There is some Russian/Czech law that dictates it’s existens. The mag has to be able to lock from rotating. Why ? Your quess is as good as mine but all of them ( Cricket, EG & Vulcan ) hascthe feat inbuild.

Thanks Sir Ville. I will contact Evgeny directly.
What about the small magazine lock switch? I have been considering using a dremel tool to cut off the small diameter portion of the pin, (the part that keeps the magazine from rotating), and then the device will lock the mag to the receiver solidly, and still allow the mag to rotate. What do you think about my idea?

Mike

Exactly. That’s its purpose. Contact Evgeny for updated parts. His e-mail is on the AGN / Vulcan website.

Great! Thanks for the helpful info.
So how can I contact AGN about receiving the upgraded parts so that I can install them myself? I already talked to the dealer from whom I bought the rifle, and they have not done anything so far, maybe it is best to talk to the owner directly?
I still have not had anyone comment on the real usefulness of the small magazine lock on the right side of the rifle.
The other thing I have been wondering about is; on my probe there is a cross drilled hole near the rear of the brass probe. I do not see what purpose it serves. Do the new guns have this hole? Maybe it is used for assembly and disassembly?
Thanks, Mike

Basically Ville you are one of the Beta Testers. You did help get the needed modifications for the Vulcan so we could all also sleep better knowing we even have better guns then the Vulcan you were first sent. However that isn’t going to tighten your groups up. :biggrinn:

The list of updates made since the first ones came out : New shroud, new “loading rod” and new load handle.

After all this is about the only good news we will get from Ville besides a picture of a target with a five shot group looking like a ragged pellet hole shot at 50 yards from his Vulcan. However his wife was shooting not him. His target was the half inch group. He won’t post that.

Hello, thanks for the replies! I figured the issue with the gauge was probably not important.
Sir Ville, Just wondering if you can tell me what specific changes have been made to this rifle since mine was made? I should probably contact AGN directly to ask if he will send me updated parts to bring my gun up to latest standard.
Also, please tell me, what is the real purpose of the mag lock on the right side? I would like to use it to lock the mag in the receiver, but not have it lock the mag from rotating. Does that seem rational?
Thanks, Mike

Both EG & Calibrgun use German made WIKA gauges- the best in business. Idk what gauge the Vulcan has but it shows the same (190 B) as did my EG & Crickets when the tank gauge ( not always the best quality btw) shows 200 B.

Gauge on gun can’t really be that accurate because I’m sure they are not more than a few bucks each. Anything more elaborate would be in the 20-30 dollar range. I don’t even use mine. Fill with tank Gauge and refill when 4 clips are done.
