I have a scope problem/question
I mounted a Bushnell Legend 5x15x40 on my Condor and man do I need to shim the scope way up. I have a thin strip of a plastic from a soda bottle in the rear mount and I still have a long ways to go as the elevation is way turned up. I am using good 2 piece BKL mounts. The question is; is there such a thing as having the mounts on backwards. I haven’t tried switching the mounts around yet as I am taking a break and thought it was a good question to ask..

No no no. Those are problems that CAN BE CONTRIBUTING. Believe me they do occur. For some people they occur partly and for others they all are there.
Since we do not have your gun in front of us. All we can do it give you all available information and hopefully you sort it out.
I have had to switch mounts front to back before also. But since you already mentioned that it did not need repeating.
All of your theory does not apply. I simply switched the mounts around and added the same shim I was using previously and the gun is on the money. It had nothing to do with the rail, groves or the damn .25 loopy pellets.
Sheesh if I would have read that prior to switching the mounts, I would have thought I had a piece of shit gun. I have been using nothing but BKL on all of my guns and this is the first time I have ever had the problem.
Maybe I took all of that wrong but it sounded like you/me were trying to write off my new gem… I will surely be careful in how I word anything in the future..

I decided to eliminate most of the droop problem and tracked down a BKL 260-D7. Good ol Van at Airhog had one in stock for a great price and it is on its way to my home at this time. I just love good customer service and those guys are the best. Talk to Martin today and one heck of a nice fellow.. It sure is nice to talk to one of the fellows that help to put these guns together and better yet is to have a good working relationship with them..Nothing is better than to talk to an expert right over the phone.

.22 at ~1000 fps, fine one moment, won’t zero by almost a foot another moment at 50 yards and nothing had changed except removal and reinstallation.
It’s puzzling I know but I think it’s a QC issue with the rings or tri-rail.

I had similar issues in the past. Mine ended up on time being “Clipping” and another time “Leapers Induced Scope Error” lol.

Here is the thing. If the BKL does not have enough droop built in you still might have to shim.
I have a bushnell Legend also. They do not have much vertical adjustment that is for sure. I do not have problem with droop with mine.
It could be a combination of things for you. The limited adjustment of the scope+the height above the barrel+ the short 12″ having a loopy trajectory + the heavy .25 pellet. All of those things add up and result in the problem you have having.
The frame of the Condor is an extrusion and I don”t think it is the problem. Is the scope rail level? Are the rail mount grooves level level?
I think you might just have a case of big pellet, high rail, and a scope with limited adjustment.

Thanks man.. I forgot all about Mac1 doing that sort of thing. I would like to try a 1 piece BKL drooper mount (D7) first but I can’t find one.

If you want you can send that mount to Mac1 and he will fix it for droop. Give him a call and tell him what scope you are using and mount. I am sure he can fix you up permanently so you dont have to shim so much.
I had no problem with the droop factor on my .20 Condor and now I have an extreme issue with the .25. This has to lead me to believe that the rail system on these guns may have a QC issue. There is no other reason to explain it. First time for me saying anything negative about the AF guns. I took the same scope and mount and put them on my R9 and had very lttle issue with droop at all and that is with a gun that is known for having droop problems to some degree. I know that Straight Shooters are out of the D7’s so I will just be shimming the heck out of these double strap mounts that I have for now.
I have two sets of the 263s. I’ve tried different combinations of usage. The 260-D7 is droop compensated. The 263 supposedly are not. I like security and the look of the rings but I may have to trade out. 🙁
I think I will just try switching the rings around first and if that don’t help I will bet me the 1 piece BKL D7 and hope I don’t have to shim that too much… thanks for the input fellows..
I would switch the rings around. I installed my first BKL 260-D7 wrong one time and it had me thinking the scope was messed up. But it was me 😆
Weird part is that one second mine was fine. I remove the rings and scope and put them back on and it wouldn’t zero vertically. But, I mic’d the rings at the same height.
I had asked on the yellow if the BKL 263s were droop compensated and they are not.
weird. I have a bushy legend 5-15 on a leapers accushot high mount. I only had to adjust about 15 clicks at 20 yards to get it zeroed.
