I have been lusting after FX and Rapid rifles and I…
..started considering all the possible ways that I could ever own one. One way (which seems to be the way many of us go) is to sell or trade our current inventory. My current inventory only consists of my AAA .25, my .25 magnum PPG, and a soon to arrive .22 Hatsan At 44 pump carbine.
The way I feel about my AAA is alike the late great Charton Heston so selling it would almost be sacrilegious. The Hatsan I have not even held yet. And the PPG .25 mag…well, for those of you familiar with my brief post on this pistol in the past…I may in fact be in possession of the “holy grail” of .25 pistols. Firstly, because it is a true pistol. It balances very well (unlike many of these gargantuan carbines posing as pistols). Secondly, because it is a power house. Darren achieved over 60 fpe and I have verified this with a 59 fpe reading. Thirdly it is minute of rodent accurate and it will most likely do well up to coyote sized quarry.
So I guess I felt like sharing this for two reasons. First and foremost: bragging. Second, I would like to find out if there was any interest in owning this pistol. Believe me, I don’t want to sell it. But considering that I might have to sooner or later…just thought I’d see if anyone would be interested? Darren is currently out of business so I suppose his “lifetime warranty” on his stainless pistols is out of business as well. It features a two cock position (low and high power). Darren thoroughly tested it and I have tested it. Anyway, here are a few pictures of today’s outing at 20 yards with Jerry’s 7 rings. Five shot group at 20 yards with a 1x red dot site off of rest in picture. Ammo box in picture says 6 rings but I was using 7 rings.
Pics of the can where with a 7 ring at 20 yards through the can, through the wood backer piece and a nice chunk taken out of the cinder block. Just look at how beautifully those surefires expand and go splat! Almost like fine art 😛

since the gripframe is set up for 1911 grips why not hunt up one of the old Beeman P1 walnut buttstocks
or just make something based on the same basic design
another really neat option would be to use a reproduction C96 Mauser broomhandle holster stock iron and have the gripframe milled for the stock slot then build a quick detachable walnut buttstock

Yeah, you’ve convinced me to keep it. I would like to get a stock adapter for it and play around with it in carbine form for a while…(just to see how she will group at 40 yards or more). That red dot is not ideal for grouping at distance. And I don’t want to put one of those large 4x pistol scopes on it. I’ll adapt one of the “backpacker” forearms to it for carbine purposes…but ultimately I’ll keep it in pistol form.

Unfortunately I have no picture. The exit wound looked more like a .50 cal bullet instead of a .25. I hit him in the back where his lumpy warts are, around the neck region. I tossed him over the fence quickly when my boy was talking about drying him out and saving him to add to his collection of dead bugs and things.
They will be in full force here soon. I’ll take a pic of the next one for sure.

I love those crossmods..but I built over a dozen 22xx carbines and I wouldn’t be okay with getting rid of this pistol unless it was for the likes of a rapid,etc. Thanks for the offer though. Nice carbine for sure.

SYN: Man, you are right again….lol. That would be sweet in my little collection.
OK 80G, i’d swap ya my CrosMods for the rig. Brand new shroud (2 weeks old) along with a Charles Mellon 24″ 22 barrel that i also just got and installed. Gun has no more than 500 shots through her and has over 900 bucks in it. Got all the receipts…..lol. There is an allen installed in the buttstock adapter for adjustable power. Currently shooting 18 gr JSBs at 850 fps and the power adjuster aint even cranked in nor has the Charles mellon barrel been ported…YET! All new orings with no leaks and no problems.

Thanks C and yeah, believe me, I don’t want to and just to let you know part of my longing for a Rapid is because of you 👿 And RC got that FX bug under my skin 🙂 I’ll be over the desire soon enough. Maybe I’ll just start up a savings bucket and one day it will happen! For now I’ll enjoy what I do have.

Thanks RC. Every time I look at that pistol and more importantly, every time I shoot it, I slap myself for even thinking about selling it. I will most likely hang onto it. I really don’t think he made another one. This was his prototype frame and trigger…although I do think he sold a few of the triggers. It had it’s first kill the other day…A Bufo toad. Wasn’t much left of him after that 7 ring passed through. One of those toads almost killed my favorite red nose a few years back. On the way to the emergency room…while she was having grand mall seizures, she was literally bouncing off of the rear glass of my wifes’s dodge durango. I thought for sure she’d break through the rear glass and fly out onto the highway at 80 mph…don’t know why I just shared that, oh well. She made it and is alive and well (9 years old now).

I once was looking at buying one of the 9, I think it was 9, Custer Battle field Colt SA s.
They were recovered laying under Custers Troopers corpse’s and the Suix missed them while looting.
Most were reconditioned as Artilery models and the very blood pitted ones were sold as salvage by the Army.
The one I was looking at was in a movie studio for decades and they sold it to a gun shop in Redmond Oregon, in a box of other movie guns not knowing what it was.
The Custer range of serial numbers are known, but are not the exact ones that went to Custer, only the range of guns made during that time period, only those 9 or 11 or what ever the number were of the battle field pickups are actually known to be actual Custer guns.
The price was $25000. and as the guy said, “if you don’t like the price just go buy another one.”
My point is, that is the only one there is Joe don’t get that knew gun fever and piss it away…
Now about the FX. Get a safe queen, the new ones are having problems as you have seen. You can get a regulator later, if you really think you need one. Save for a while my friend, you will always regret selling that gun, where are you going to get another one?
They are going to be selling Royales for a long time.
