I casted thousands of 294 grain .457 bullets for my Texan. I can sell 100 for $20 with shipping. Email me at joeeigo@gmail.com

Maybe its just me but I’m getting better results when I run ammo through a .454 sizer. I’ve only tested a few molds, identical rounds (380gn) sized at 454 and 457 and the 454 seems to be 30-50 fps higher. After three shots of each from 3000psi, the 457s end at 2300psi and the 454s end at 2450psi. Accuracy is pretty much identical with between the two sizes, but the POI is completely different, about 3 inches low and right on the 457s.

I can split orders

quote rj-porter:

I talk to randy from RandL often. He spent this weekend shooting a few different Texans. He said they like the 457. I also called air force and talked with them about the gun and they said 457 was the bore also. There is a post on the yellow talking about a guy shooting the 457. Its hard to say not having one in hand to see for myself which is better. If all goes as planned I should have one soon to test with. When will u have your gun in hand to slug the barrel. Also I will call randy tomorrow and have him slug a few barrels to see what they are.

I’ll have mine when Pyramyd Air gets them. I’m in the first 25% of the pre orders they said. I will probably order some of your casts in various weights and styles of .457 then. Do you split orders? I was thinking of getting some half this half that type of thing. I already have a collection of bullets for my Will Piatt tuned Recluse that I’ll never use! Like to order some samples just enough to see what I like

I slugged mine and it was closer to 458 than 457.

I think my other problem was I was expecting too many shots before refilling. I talked to airforce today and they told me to refill after 2 shots each time if Im shooting 300+ grain slugs. More shots for smaller slugs, possibly 10 accurate shots with roundball. That makes sense. I thought I was having a sizing issue, but that might not be. The guy at airforce told me they even had good groups with some .454 slugs. Hard to imagine, but I think my concerns over 457 vs 458 were unfounded.

When I turned the power wheel all the way down I can get 345gr slugs to touch holes, refilling after every other shot at 50 yards. When I had the power wheel all the way up I could group 5 roundballs all touching each other without refilling. That matches Randy’s results using RJ’s slugs from what I remember him saying.

More testing will come after my sizer gets here.

RJ have you had specific feed back on .457 vs .458. Since I have no choice but to wait on the gun at least I have time to order some ammo. The more specific the details on which ammo they like the better. Thanks

I have 457 and 458. I got you covered. RandL says my bullets shoot good in the Texans.

Will you be casting some .458 for the Texan or do you think your .457 ammo will be better? Don’t have my Texan in hand yet but think I read on here someone who already got theirs saying they needed .458. So far all I ordered were the cheap .457 from PA till I know what size is really needed then I can order some more accurately sized from you. Thanks
