Q:

I’m buying a Benjamin Marauder .177

Now my question is what is the best scope for this rifle and the best hand pump?

Yes I use a hand pump………Yes I’m stupid 🙂
I do have a AF Condor (way to loud and to much lead down range for this job) and their pump, could I get an adapter to use it and then maybe buy a shoe box?

Any thoughts from the experts?

Hell yeah . go for it, sounds like you have your mind made up.

Might think about 22 for it , some of the .177 marauder guys chime in here, but My 48 rws did not shoot the best over 1000, needed well under this, so you might have to shoot heavy .177’s or deal with having to turn the Marauder down.

And heavy .177 are going to be close to regular 22’s in weight, light 22’s will be cheaper than heavy .177’s for the most part.

Something to think about.

Good luck with new toy.
I’m jealous ,whichever way you go with getting the new toy.

For the price, yes the Marauder is better out of the box, and that’s all you get with .177 cal.

With the Condor, you can do whatever you like, long/short barrel, difference caliber and interchangeable between .177/.22. If you want to move up to .25 cal or larger, more part will need to replace.

overall, I personally think Marauder is nothing to compare with the Condor, accept the multishot mag.

Now it’s your call, LOL.

I REALLY like my .25 Marauder! 😉 It makes a mess of the birds; very few actually fly anywhere after being hit. If I were you, I would create a good backstop and enoy!

Of the three, the .177 is well liked. Tell us how you like it.

Well I’m going to get the .177 just to say i have one. 🙂
I’m also looking to get a SS in .25.

I think this air gun stuff is addicting as Crack……It has to be I was looking at some Big Bores today 🙄 ….But 1st I want to get the above and a shoebox….

get a 12” barrel and a end cap and you have an ss. turn the gun down and you have a really quite ss. do you not have a shroud, because this really makes a big differance, my condor is almost silent, and i am running it right at 950 to 1000 fps. my bow literally makes more noise.

i was trying to talk myself into buying a marauder when they first came out, have always wanted a pcp, and 450 not to bad. but i caught the condor on sale or clearance sale. on Midway for 450 so i bit.

I have two .177 RWS springer’s M34 , M 48 and haven’t shot them since i bought the .22 condor .

I don’t need full power on the condor so i am shooting 14 grain pellets at around 940 , 950, and this is all the power i need for now. i am used to .177 for all my varmint dispatching duties and the 14 grain .22 is way better for this.

When i bought the condor thru midway they only had RWS pellets and they don’t like over 850 fps for the most part , so the first thing that i had to do was figure out how to slow the condor down.

Between the 2 pump, I would vote for the Hill pump.

Between the 2 gun, I would vote for the condor. With the Condor, you can change barrel from .17 to .22 in few minutes, you can also tune the gun from high power to low very easy, you can quiet the gun down by adding shroud to keep your niethbord happy 😀

Speaking of adjusting the Marauders to shoot well is a nightmare, if you already decided to go with Marauders, I just want to say good luck and shoot safe 😆

 :4:

Can you take a Condor and make it a a SS by changing the barrel or would I need a new tank?

As for the Marauders, I’ve been told you can’t beat them $ for $. They are Simply quite out of the box and that they shoot as good as a AF does out of the box. ( both guns taken straight out of the box)

As for the FX pump does PA sell them? If not were would be a one stop shop?

I’m getting the 17 simple becuase I REALLY need something that’s not throwing so much lead down range.

It’ll be used in a small town to fix a bird issue and I was thinking that a 17 falling on something would be better then a 22 or a 25…

Thoughts on this?

Personally I’d get the 22 or 25 caliber. They hold up in a brezzy day and they shoot in the high 800’ds and 900’ds. A 17 will shoot over a thousand real easy even at 2000 pounds of pressure, but it’s like a bee sting compaired to teh 22 or 25, the pellets are not fussy in either gun I have all 3 Mauraders. Get the Tactical scope it comes in a can like an ammo can. i got mine from PA and it is as clear as they come.
They are hard to keep in stock so if you see one buy it, it won’t be there in the morning.

You are very fortunate in that respect. My wife asks, “Why do you even have that rifle?” LoL

You can turn the condor down to what ever you want to do with it. get another tank and leave settings alone on gun and have a 450 fps plinker if you want, the condor is a one hole gun with the match wad cutters at moderate ranges at low velocity.and shot count is crazy 150 shots + ( just saying).

Marauders are cool so if your just wanting one , thats different.

I was thinking about that but, After reading about the Marauders I just want one of each…What can I say.

The wife loves my AirForce Condor she knows that anything just outside the fence is dead if you place the cross on it. But she said that whole Mil-Dot stuff is a pain in the ass. (missed a ground hog) So I told her about the Marauder and she said why don’t you have one…………(I almost called the ambulance I was sure I was having a stroke)

Any how thanks for all the post and the great info on this site. You guys sure know how to keep a guy BROKE, But WHO on here can say his wife asked why he didn’t have another air rifle……… 😯

FX or Hill pump X2. I have had both and prefer the Hill, others who
have had both prefer the FX. Can’t lose with either IMO.

The scope will depend alot on your price range and intended use.
Leapers are good scopes for the lower price range and most of them come with a lifetime warranty.
