I’m thinking about a Mac1 Hunter. Any thoughts?
I was able to check out a Mac1 Hunter this past weekend at the Pacific Airgun show. I thought I really wanted an FX Royale FT model but after meeting Tim from Mac1 and getting a chance to shoot the Mac1 Hunter I am changing my mind. I don’t shoot competition but I like to shoot little groups and I like to put pellets into little varmint noggins at long range. The particular gun I want is the Hunter carbine with the HPA bottle. I’m thinking .22 set up for 31-33fpe. I know it is a little heavy for a hunter but I already have a Royale 400 and an Edgun for light hunters so the Mac1 will just be somthing different Anybody have any thoughts on this rifle or Mac1 in general. Thanks for your input.

Is that the orange and black one? 😉 That is the FT model and not a hunter. The difference is the scope is offset from the barrel and the grip is canted.
If it is the orange one I shoot FT with the guy and bought #27 from him not long ago. Just took apart the trigger assembly to clean and lube it, turns out it was tricked out pretty well, that guy knows how to make a great rifle better…
Shot a 48/48 at the first FT match of the year with USFT #158.

I agree. It would be nice to tap into all the opinions on the Yellow. Oh well! I actually found a USFT on the Yellow classifieds. Ends up the owner is only a 2 hour drive away.
The only thing wrong with the USFT and Tim Is that you can’t mention them on the Yellow!

Just checked out Mac1’s website since it had been quite some time since I had been there and I had not heard of the Hunter. Wow! I can see right now I need to be saving up some change.
I have two USFT rifles in 177.
Won the local open pcp class field target season last year (my first year) and tied for 3rd at the 2012 AAFTA Nationals… Won the local silhouette 2012 competition (VAR class) with perfect 40/40 scores (scored relay and refire relay) for five matches straight.
Rifles are very well made, easy to maintain, accurate as all get out. I get 100 shots from 1600-1300psi fill with about 20fps variation. It’s the unregulated long tube version.
I ordered mine when the shit hit the fan on the Yellow and Tim was banned. I waited for nine months and had nice conversations with Tim during the wait. A couple others got yelled at during this time, figured if you are an asshole to him he will treat you like one. I never had any issues, got to meet him at a few FT matches and would order another rifle from him in a heart beat.
I made a custom adjustable rise hamster, super specialized thigh rest and a high mount cheek riser. No more wood on my USFT. 😉
Looking to add a Hunter rifle to the herd after I get a Matador in 177 (i’ll probably sell my back up USFT to get the Hunter). I think the USFT is one of the finest air rifles on the planet (certainly made in the USA). Once I get my Matador i’ll have two of the best made rifles on the planet.
Right now, if I died, I would want to be buried with my USFT… 😯 For fucking serious. 😆
