Hi Guys,

I’m looking to get 3 or 4 of these made for one of my crazy side projects.

Is something like this do-able on a run of the mill lathe, or am I asking for too much detail?

The killer is getting the seal.

Best case, with this concept, each cartridge would be as least as complex as the standard AF breech.

(Its basically a mash up between a run of the mill semi/auto feed cycle (strip, smack, bang, eject) except you’re feeding a mag full of “pre-loaded” breeches” instead of cartridges.

Sorta lame, I know, but I wanna try it out.

I can definitely lose the tapers, and probably the differing OD’s. ID’s though I’d have to keep along with the the rear lip for extracting the cart.

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll play with this some more and bring it back after some cuts.

I understand the desire to make them look more like a center-fire cartrige but if you simplifie your design then they would be easier to produce and therefore lower the cost of them so when they are lost (and they will be at some point) or damaged they wont hurt the pocket book as much…

This mechanism would work with my electronic valve concept, so no springs or hammers or poppet valves.

It would feed and action much like any existing real steel, magazine fed, bolt action rifle, the issue being that with a real cartridge, you can seat the bullet in the barrel pretty confidently, while as with super soft pellets we’d have to put things close enough and run some tests with fingers crossed.

So heres my order of operations:

1. Electronic Valve System, to be used with a stock manually feed condor/talon.

2. Bolt action multishot mechanism, run of the mill rotary clip.

3. Semi Auto multishot mechanism, run of the mill rotary clip.

4. Bolt Action magazine fed mechanism.

5. Semi auto magazine fed mechanism.

Highest priority projects on the top.

As I’m waiting for a new pressure sensor for 1, CNC money for 2, and for 2 to be done so I can start 3, I am working on 4.

So yes, I totally agree, 4 and 5 are way more finicky propositions than the others, but its either this or watch tv and eat pie atm.

Without understanding the way you would feed all this, my gut reaction is too many little parts and the possibility that those ‘cartridges’ would get lost or need to be refilled.

But without knowing how all this works with the other stuff don’t put too much weight on my comment. 😉

I do see where what your doing will simplify things and allow for more options for feeding the ammo into the rifle though. Is there no way to use a rotary clip?

So the idea would be to put one pellet into each of these things and use them as “cartridges” to more easily manipulate pellets mechanically.

Each would function basically as a “mini” breech, being fed into the system, blown through, then extracted.

The dimensions are all pretty much arbitrary but I see the cart “necks” as necessary because I would need these things to help seat themselves against the barrel receiver (not shown).

I want to see if I can get away with making the pellet go from the “cart” to the barrel without things exploding or mauling the pellets in the process. If this thing works reliably then I could move on to the actual feed mech.

P.S. I am working on the more traditional “revolver’ style multi-shot mechanism but I’m waiting on a few things to come in before I can progress on those.

Why am I telling you all this? Well because you have an enormous amount of skills and experience, I’d like to run the concept by you and see if it passes your sanity check.
