Q:

Important Shroud question, california

I am in california and want to put a talon tunes shroud on my condor. Since i don’t want trouble with the law by them being able to remove it if they so desire by maybe getting pulled over, what is the implications of using JB weld and attaching it permanently to the gun? Besides not being able to remove the barrel unless its sawed off, is there any reason to ever take it off after you put it on anyway? ❓ Do you need to clean the internals after a certain amount of shots?

Changing barrels requires removing the shroud…

Cgdream, My brother in law is a deputy. We were just talking about this yesterday and he said some of the same things as have been said above. However, he also said it comes down to all the variables involved. Which are too great to list. One thing is this, ask yourself this question, if you rolled up on you and ran a background NCIC check would you come out OK? Do you look like “trouble”? If a cop wants to take you for a ride they almost always can find a reason. They sometimes like to say “You can beat the rap, but you can’t beat the ride” As to the original question, use mild loc-tite and you can remove it with heat.

gotcha, thanks for the input guys 😀

Hell, I went to take mine off the other night, I could barely get it off, it was like it was welded in place, so I really can’t imagine why you would want to do such a thing, if the state laws don’t require it.

if you did that as heli stated something will go wrong guaranteed, it could be as simple as the shroud not being lined up right and clipping, to something like the spring braking or hammer jamming for some reason and not being able to pull every thing out through the bottle collar for some other unknown reason, just dose not sound like a good Idea to me.

the way a full shroud is made it can not be installed on any fire arm that I know of, and if you buy one from tony, sharp or someone that makes them with that fit and finnish then the look as if there is nothing out of the ordinary and the cop would have to know what a condor is to know that it isn’t factory. you can also make one yourself out of some 1″ o/d aluminum tubing from ace like I have, spend a bit of time on the finish and end cap detail and it looks like it belongs as well, I have had people ask me if it is some crazy bull barrel on it, I just kind of snicker at them and tell them no it’s shrouded.

I’m not as good as these other guys.
However Murphy’s law says permantly attatch your shroud and internal malfunction will soon follow
