Installed my 1st TT upgrades last night
It all started 2 weeks ago. I had purchased a new “Extreme” Valve Kit, regulator, heavy hammer, and spring from PCP Tunes. I received them and installed them accordingly. The valve and regulator went in first,(so far so good). Then the next day I installed the new hammer and spring. Everything went well until I was putting the barrel and all back in. When I hit bottom it just stopped. Something was not right. After some fiddling around I got it in and everything screwed in. I went to cock the gun, and it was like trying to push a bulldozer, the breach hit bottom about 75% up, and I had to force it to cock.
This went on for about a week. I went out one night, and fired one shot, went to load again, and the breach puked back at me. I could not get a good answer from PCP Tunes, and I was fed up.
That’s when I called Tony. He told me about the cheap parts PCP sells. So, I bought a new TT Super High Output valve, Alteros Regulator, new Hammer(w/ slap moderator), and a SuperSear 2 trigger, the whole nine yards. I even bought a few extra parts (24″ barrel) to keep on hand, and it was 1/2 the price PCP charged me for just the valve, reg. and hammer and spring. Oh, I forgot to mention my 4500 psi tank fro AAO.
I installed everything last night. It was late, so I couldn’t set up my chrono, and do some tests, but, I did pop off a few shots. I could swear that the 55.5-grain slugs were going supersonic. I gotta shoot it again tonight to make sure I wasn’t hearing things.
I did bump up the regulator a tad past 150. My pressure is about 2500, 175 bar on the tank. I’ll back down as I test. My gun likes the heavier slugs vs. the lighter pellets. out of 40 shots this past Saturday, I was hitting 1/2″ groups at 50 yards. I’m anxious to see what she does now.
I am new to the PCP world (3 months)and I’m addicted. I do have a few questions. Should I put a rubber washer under this Tophat? If so, how big? Do I need it? My .357 Texan has a 2021 MOAV valve from AAO, it has what looks like a green band under the tophat. Is there anything else to do to this money pit to make her more powerful? lol
I didn’t know about TT Until about 2 weeks ago. but when I was reading more in the forums, TT and Tony kept popping up. I see why now. He was more than helpful when I had trigger problems, and I’m sure his products are superior! What a great guy. And to you all as well. One last thing (I know I sound crazy). Where can I get a 34″ barrel for this .25?
I leaned a valuable lesson about buying cheap foreign parts.
