Q:

Installing Joe Brancato’s fill adapter for Edgun

I’m a little timid about this question not being a no-brainer for me. So I’ll have to ask someone:

I just received my fill adapter (1/8″ Female BSPP to Male Quick Disconnect with Dowdy Seal) for my Edgun: Could you tell me where the Dowdy seal goes– on the adapter, or on the fill probe that came with the gun? and where on either? Thanks.

Shhh, don’t tell Joe he spelled it “dowdy” on his website… 😉

Had me misspelling it too. 😆

Length of threads on the EdGun fill probe is (from bottom of nut to end of probe): 0.352″

I doubty he knows that 😛

Say it isn’t so Joe! 😆

…did anyone get the measurement needed? I am afraid to take mine apart to measure it in fear that I won’t get it sealed good again.

The dowdy seal is what is supposed to work. What might be happening is the threads on the Edgun probe are longer than the threads inside the stainless steel fitting and they are bottoming out before the seal gets a chance to do its thing. Can someone measure the length of the threads and let me know via email in my logo? While the tape might work, its not the “proper” way to do it.

Thanks in advance for any information you provide.

Yep…I tried using that thing Joe sent too and ended up going with a little teflon tap instead. It worked better and had zero air leaking out of it. Just don’t have any excess taping hanging out. You don’t want anything blowing into your reg when you fill up!

Between the probe and the male adapter, probably not needed but I use teflon tape on the probe threads.

Thank you! I may try the teflon tape instead though.
