Interesting results – tuning

I like a heavy round, in just about everything. Pistol, rifle, and airgun… When my Condor SS was sporting a .22 barrel I was disappointed that I could never get great accuracy with the heavy pellets (JSB Monster 25.39gr). I tried and tried, but the lighter Barracudas (21.14gr) outshot the JSB’s all day long from 3000 down. Fast forward and I went to a .25 barrel (because apparently I’m not happy when shooting is cheap…) and I got a bunch of Eun Jin 43.2gr pellets (and a smattering of everything else). With a TT tophat and the large insert, the EJ grouped like crap until the tank dropped to around 2100psi – then things tightened considerably and accuracy was great! I was surprised, but speculated that I wasn’t driving them hard enough for optimal performance. I removed the insert from my TT tophat (no insert installed – wide open) and again accuracy was rather unremarkable until around 2100 psi, then things got real tight. And I mean ‘real tight’ – for ~15 shots I could not shoot outside of a 5/8″ dot. The one downside is that once accuracy started to deteriorate, it did so dramatically. It went from inside that 5/8″ dot to 1.25″ below in one shot. Not just once, but on two fills. Not a lot, I know, but enough to make me believe there’s some sort of barrier / threshold there. The accuracy of the ~15 ‘magical’ shots is awesome, and has me considering a reg…

Do you know what velocity they group well at?

All groups at 25 yards at this point. Eunjin 43.2 gr. pellets. Groups are less than 1/2″ during the magic ~15 rounds that start around 2100psi. Need to get to the range to see how this stacks up at 50…
