Interfacing NV monocular to a scope?
I’ve been using Leapers 4-16×56 SWAT(minimum 10yd focus) and 3-9×40(minimum 5yd focus), was wondering is it possible to put a NV monocular somewhere in front of the scope so I can have some NV aiming when I need it without loosing zero by removing the daytime scope?
I know very little about NV device & optics, when we use a NV device is it like we are looking at(and have our eyes focus on) some sort of screen inside it, or it just intensifies the light passing thru it and send ’em directly to our eye, like we are looking at the original distant object? It’s the minimum focus distance that bothers me, worrying about not getting clear image because I wouldnt be able to put the NV 5 yds away on a 18inch bbl airgun..
I’ve seen pictures of AN/PVS14 in-line with some scope and NV monocular attached to digital cameras, can I also do the same with commercial products or it requires some special optic spec? (perhaps ultra-short focus range of the rare device?)
Have anybody try this before?
If it’s feasible I’d probably get a low cost gen 1+ device.

I was thinking about putting the NV in front of the scope so that the original comfortable eye relief and cheek welding can be preserved, but now it looks like put a short device behind with a little eye/shoulder offset is far more practical a solution. I might just go with the Yukon NVMT1 2×42 + adaptor combination, then have my shoulder pad adjusted further away from the bottle when NVMT is mounted.

It’s a great package including a Gen2 & front attachment & IR illum, get all at a time saving all the hassle of moving scope & losing zero etc with a reasonable price.
The decision has been maede. I’ll get an inexpensive Yukon and have it tagged behind, save the money & try make friend with the hassle 😳
The NV monocular goes on the other end of the scope. In between your eye and the scope. Im assuming the monocular needs to be the same focal distance from the scope that your eye would have been.
If you search on this site you can find many pics of it being done and stories about how they did it. Most seem to use PVC tubes in between the two or some type of hard rubber boot. You dont want any light comming into the NV unit other than through the scope so your coupler needs to be solid.

If focus range does pose a problem, what I have now for adjustment are the diopter of the rifle scope, diopter of the NV monocular and probably magnification of the NV….is it possible to get usable image through tweaking them?
I don’t know the answer, and would like to know what it is, and would also like some recommendations on NV monoculars for this purpose.

Things you need to be aware of with the PS-22 is that you can only go up to 6x magnification. So your scope needs to start from 1-6x or 2.5-4x magnification.
You will not be able to use higher magnifications with your Leapers 4-16×56 very well.
Have you ever tried to spot something at relatively close ranges looking through a 4x lens? It is very difficult to spot a rat at ranges from 10-20yds. If you only have 4-6x magnification out past 40 yards that is hard to shoot accurately as well.
With the PS-22 you get great visibility, but poor magnification.
Consider your application first. I would recommend the Yukon mount and attache a cheap gen 1 monocular behind your scope…and use a good laser illuminator.
Or, buy a good Gen 2 monocular with a high quality tube and you will be able to zoom to 16x magnification.
