Intro and first Talon SS group…
Hi All,
I’ve just recently gotten into adult ag’s and I just purchased a Talon SS in .177. I can tell that I’m going to LOVE this gun. I mounted a cheap BSA 4-16×40 on it using low rings (that’s all I had) to get some idea of what it is capable of. I decided to switch to a PCP from a springer due to accuracy issues with the springer I purchased. I performed a “tune” on the springer, but still no improvement. That’s what prompted the switch to the Talon. After about 10 shots to get it zeroed, here was my first 5 shot group at 20 yds. It measures about .4″–now that’s what I’m talking about! I can’t wait to see what this AG is capable of with decent glass and rings that don’t require that I lay my head flat sideways on the tank just to see through the scope. I’m a huge modder and fabricator (novice skills, but access to good equipment–lots of shotgun gunsmithing experience). I look forward to seeing what I can squeeze out of this platform (including a Talondor setup in .25). Can’t wait!!!

Ah hell, RC gave me a compliment and I took it the wrong way 😳
Or, was that one on those Off Handed Compliments? I could never tell the difference.
Anyway, people like me get caught up going for power with the AF rifle then have to back up and try to make the old BB gun work. RC was quick to get perfection with a .22 Condor then sold it to move on to master the .25. That only took him a couple weeks. I could never part with rifle that was taking out crows at 135 yards.

That was a good buy. The reason I mentioned Lurker, my internet buddy who just hurt my feelings, is that he has done just about everything with the 177 and gives great…..advice.

Hey, that .177 can do same hole at 20 yards. Slow it down, tune it up, put an o-ring behind the top hat, get an E-TaC shorty from MM and WokButt from WalkOnKing andyou’ll love to shoot it without breaking your neck.

Thanks for the welcome. My skin is thick, so I’ll fit in fine here. I wouldn’ta bought the girly-man caliber if I hadn’t found a brand new Talon SS for $250 in the box with papers. I can drop the saved $$ into a .25 barrel soon I hope. I’d like to try to take a turkey with a headshot next year–and .25 from a 24″ seems to be the way to get that done. I’m actually quite impressed with the factory trigger on my gun. Mine breaks cleanly with no creep. I bet after a light stoning, it’ll be smooth as butter. Shooting MOA or less with a powder burner is reasonable for me, so learning how to do it with one of these guns should be fun!
P.S.–can someone tell me how to fix the photo link in my first post??

I have never had a 17, well not a pellet gun anyway, my SS is 22 and my Condor is a 25. With a 24 inch 22 or 25 barrel, you will do that .40 at 50 yards. I shot a 3/4 inch group today at 100 yards with the 25.
I have one Airforce rifle that will not shoot into an inch at 50 yards, but it shoots 16 inch arrows, so I will use that as an excuse.
Welcome aboard, be ready from some kidding and abuse and enjoy that new toy, and it is a toy, not an adult air rilfe, real men do not shoot .177 unless they are named Lurker.

These are awesome guns, no doubt. Welcome to the darkside, (you did buy a black TSS, right?) Springers just don’t have a good power to weight ratio for me…and they klank, twang. Have fun. :tag:

Just my dry sence of humor, Pab says I should use more emoticons.
I just sold the barrel, there were times when I was trying to get the power from the 25 that I almost regretted it, it took a few months a a couple thousand shots to get it to work.
But I had a good shooting Talon SS in 22 also. And it was a Starling at 148 yards. Even a blind squirrel gets a nut now and then.
I can’t imagine trying to get it to shoot with just weekly range trips, at our age time goes by too damn fast.
