I really don’t care who started what. I’ve not been here as long as you have and I surely don’t have knowledge of the first offense given. I know it matters and and I know that forgiveness is hard to give when none is asked for. I also know that it is hard to ask for forgiveness when no offense was intended.

That said, big boys usually can figure out who started what and if they really meant to start something or just typed out the wrong words. I just find it unfortunate that that has not happened here yet and that the place is getting mean spirited and vulger. (As an amusing aside, I decided to check the site while I was at work today. It turns out that this site is one of the few sites where I can actually see pictures via my work network connection. I was just delighted when instead of guns or scopes or slugs or shoulder rests I got a nice shot of a couple of dudes in g-strings! I guess I’ll just stick to freakin’ work while at work! HaHa!)

I’ve got my own opinions as to who did what here and who made it worse but so does everyone else. My point was that I’m not going to recommend joining a vulger site to anyone much less my boys. They could certainly take it and dish it out but they can talk trash anywhere (except at home). Nobody needs another place to fight a battle, getting some and giving some info is enough to make a great site.

My advice for everyone is as follows:

1: Lang, don’t insult people directly or indirectly by refering to them as idiots and Bullshitters. If you do this people will be more likely to help you.

2: Everyone else, if Lang sticks to 1 as above but still makes comments that you disagree with then fine. Just don’t poke him for the sake of it.

I really don’t care who started this, or who said what, but it’s kind of stupid. Not everyone will agree with everyone else, and that’s a good thing, but what I don’t agree with is the pointlessness of it all. Lang seems like a nice enough guy, if a little on the forthright side, and God knows that all of my old buddies are great guys, so let’s just leave it at that. Lang, I will say this in closing; we have a very, very talented group of people here who can and do make a whole menagerie of weird and wonderful things, but the best part is that they will share willingly and freely. However, you need to ask the question in the right way, and asking simple things one second followed by proclamations of your greatness the next is off-putting. Just take that as gentle advice, not criticism.

If anyone has any questions then please feel free to ask them. There is to be no more pointless bickering here.

What an unfortunate turn of events.

While providing some perverse entertainment this thread and others are harming the community of airgunners. I say that not because I’m particularly sensitive to the foul language and mean spirit that now presents but because I will not recommend it to others.

As some of you know, I have taken advantage of this forum to market .25 heavy slugs. I thank those that built this forum and allowed me the opportunity. I would like to mention though that I’m not the maker of those slugs and I don’t profit from their sale. My sons aged 15 and 16 actually make the slugs while dad markets and runs to the post office for them. I also ensure material availability and handle cash flow. I would like to turn over some of the marketing to them and let them answer questions here but the conversation here is just too base. I don’t want to have to argue against a bunch of hostile or crude jokes or flames to ensure they continue to exhibit the fine manners and demeanor that I am so proud of. While they are not sheltered and I know they act like any other teenagers outside adult supervision, why would I expose them to more folks behaving poorly?

I’m trying to not be too preachy here as I’ve completed a 20 year career as a Naval Aviator and the wardroom gets pretty darn rough! But as a father, I’ve got to teach a sense of when rough is called for and when its not and I’m not going to add this site into the mix. My failure of capacity I’m sure, but that’s the fact of the matter.

The loss to the site and the community is perhaps slight but real nonetheless. My boys have cast tens of thousands of slugs and have become pretty good marksmen as well. Given the chance they could provide some useful information to those that want to cast slugs for themselves. With zero intention of making a career of casting slugs, they would be happy to tell what they have learned about molds, temperatures, techniques and process. Having won a shooting contest against strong competition, my oldest might even want to share some behind the trigger skills he has learned…

Oh well, I’ve rambled long enough… or too long. My original point was meant to state that the site is getting harsh enough and vulger enough to drive participation away.

It would be nice if some of us could refrain from premptively offending and others could avoid reactively flaming… I’ll just mosey off to shangrila now!
