Q:

Is the Axsor hand pump a better pump….

or is the Airforce pump good enough for those that got a good one? Is there any way to adapt the AF pump to different guns? I’m almost ready to buy, it’s just the fence that I gotta jump off for this is higher than what I’m used to. Thanks

You can get deals on the classifieds now and then – Especially when someones selling a pump with a gun.

I got a used Talon SS with pump, good scope and a ton of accessories. I ended up selling everything but the SS and was out of pocket $80 at the end of it… scored an SS for $80 !

Then I got a used BSA S-10 that came with a Hill Pump. I ddnt like the BSA so much so I shrouded it and sold it a few week after I got it and kept the Hill… after all was said and done I think I had spent $100 for the pump.

Both those purchases were made on TAG and before that TOG, went without a hitch.

Just keep scanning the for sale ad’s and you’ll find something.

I have looked at the hill but this pcp game is $$$$$!!!! I know its just money, but I mow yards and work for it and its hard to see such a large chunk of it go at once like that.

I stood on the fence for over a year before taking the plunge (i’ve had my original gun for about 2.5yrs now) and of everything i have spent money on in that time, it is probably my least regrettable expense. Sooo worth it.

I could sell you my “somewhat working” Airforce pump for $50.

If you could figure out a way to unscrew the brass adapter from the base of the pump, without trashing the threads, then you could use it for other PCP’s. But i suggest that you don’t even think of taking that thing off, ’cause you will have to saturate the damn thing in JB weld to get it to not leak. I could have just gotten a bad pump, but i just don’t want anyone else to go through what I went through with Airforce pump. Good luck on what ever decision you decide to make!

That’s almost $1000 total and thats more than i can chew in one go around. Start-up cost is a pain. If I already had a pump, I would have bought the gun already. 😡

I never owned a hand pump, but base upon the posts I’ve read here, if I had to use one I’d go with the Hill. Cost more true, but save yourself a lot of grief a start with a quality pump from day one.

My Airforce pump broke on me, and i managed to fix it. But then the threads on the base of the pump holding the brass adapter on exploded, and shot my tank across my room. If i would have got the hill pump first, I would have saved time and money.

Can I use the airforce pump with other pcps if there are fittings? Or is this a “one gun pump”?

IF you pump very carefully and take a 20 minute brake after 5 minutes of pumping, and if you pause for a second at the end of each stroke, the Airforce pump should be OK. however, I STRONGLY suggest that you get a hill pump. It is only about $100 more than the Airforce, and is completely user rebuildable. It also feels 200% more solid than my Airforce pump ever was. Just something for you to think about.

Not sure how the price compares with the Axsor pump… So far my airforce pump is working just fine and I wouldn’t have spent any more money (IMO the pumps are way overpriced).
