I liked my 400 so much when this came up at a very good price, I just could not pass it up.
Looks like that Conquest went out the window.

I agree with the JSB Kings; most of the deviation at poi is my eye position into the scope. Let me know if your clip is tight about 3/4 full. It seems my clip is pushed by the wind spring and the alignment is a tad off at that point. I keep a broken toothpick in the tins to settle in the pellets there. Also, after a pile of shots, the clip is snapping a bit faster. I don’t know if it’s causing mischief, but I intend to find out. Tried tightening the hex, but it’s bottomed out.
I’ll compare single loading vs. clip, just for yucks. It’s a pain to load singles in that small space. Ya need small fingers, two opposing fingers or pellet-grasping forceps. Putting my fingers in a pencil sharpener didn’t work; the scabs made it hard to hold the pellets.
Your main choice will be targeting the eye/brain or heart on the squirrels, either one is smaller than most butter beans!
And don’t try to kid us, we know the reason you don’t want a high-shot w/ a .25 is because you don’t want to accidentally whack a wandering kitty cat upon pellet “reentry”.

I bought if from Rick McClean, who looks like my younger brother if I had one oddly enough. He said it loves JSB Kings.
I have many tins of Kings on hand. So it is JSB Exact Kings for the 500 and JSB JUmbo Heavies for the 400.
In the Condors I tried vairious EJ’s, Crosman domes, Kodiaks, Predators and Kings. Kings were the first choice by far and due to price it would be hard to justify the Predators. Both kill effeciently, the Predator does blow a bigger hole, but truthfully I seldom examine the victims, prefering to move on to the next target.
I hear the 500 is noticably quieter than the 400, the 400 is about as loud and deadly as a coronary in a deaf mute ward at 2 AM, so it will be interesting to hear the difference.
When I bought the 400 at Chrismas, I had the difficult choice between it and a 500, but reluctantly decided to go for the 400 because shooting birds in the tops of trees is my first prioirty here, ground squirrels are 2nd which is where the 500 will shine.
When shooting birds in the tops of trees one must be aware that the pellet will come back to earth, and altho I check google earth and compare it to maximun trajectory charts, then map out do not shoot zones where human habitaition and livestock frequent, a branch can cause that pellet to change course, so the 400 was the choice at the time.
And it is such a fine rifle, consistant, powerful and quiet and works day in and day out. If I miss a target there is only one thing to blame, me.

You know you won’t regret a minute of it.
The Royale 500 is my next .25 caliber standard rifle. I’m waiting on the Edgun shipment, but after that I’m saving for a synthetic stock Royale 500.
I believe it is a big rifle, but you are a big guy and you’ll be shooting gnats off the grapes by mid summer.
Do you have a pellet of choice in .25 caliber? Didn’t you shoot a bunch of different sizes/weights last summer???
