ITT AN/PVS 14 Generation 3
Its taken me a while to save up, but finally got the cash together for these –
PVS-14 and Surplus case, J-Mount and new helmet mount
J-Arm which is used to connect to the head & helmet mounts installed on PVS-14. J-Arm also allow’s auto on/off when attached and removed to the headmount or flipped up on a rhino helmet mount.
Attached to the Headmount – So much more comfortable and secure than the NAIT and ATN Patriot headmount’s I’ve used in the past
Subdued IR reflective Union Flag.
The tube has no black spot defects, but it does have a shadow, shown here when viewed against white wall with the built in IR turned on
The shadow is barely noticable when in use and its worth the price cut to get such a small “issue”.
These were all taken in overcast conditions (see first pic of the sky)

Thanks marc – I was working down through the different grit sandpaper I have and was planning on finishing with steel wool.
Didnt realise how crap it looked until after I;d already uploaded the pictures.
Looks grant Yellow! If you want a nicer finish on delrin use fine steel wool!

Made a Day Scope adapter for it today – Just a first draft – I was going to buy one, but didnt feel like dropping $200 for a peice of delrin so I spent the $20 on a 12″ section –
Milled the holes with CNC rather than bore them out on lathe because I wanted the holes off set and I dont have a 4 jaw chuck. Not to mention its far more accurate (in my case).
Perfectly sized holes give it a nice fit without any clamping –
Milled flats for the bolts/thumb screw’s and turned it in lathe between center’s to remove some of the excess material from the top.
Picture is way nicer through device, was raining outside and I couldnt be bothered fiddling around with camera settings or getting a tripod out – 70 yards away without any illumination. Blurriness is from handshake and a slow shutter speed trying to hold everything together still enough for a picture.

That is awesome and there are so many critters I can’t see in this yard it would be on with that setup.
I know they are here because they eat a lot of seed at night and from the crows bait pile and I get a raccoon a night in the livetrap.
Cost me about two weeks of your allowance 😛
Not sure on the ranges yet, if its moving I should be fine for a good distance. I was playing with the Gen 1 I have and I saw something crossing a country road without any lights about 100 yards away no problem – if it had been standing still I would have figured it was a bush or something. A little IR to get some reflection from their eyes will increase that a lot and let me see them even if standing still. Would expect the Gen 3 to do even better but still need a little movement or reflection or IR.

That is awesome YN. How much did that set you back? And how far can you see with it, yardage wise, and still make out a small animal like a coon or fox?

How’s the battery compartment on that?
Ver nice!! The pvs14 has great optics, wich is very important vor a clear image. I’m making my own housing for a omni5 tube I accuired! Has 2 small black spots! But great resolution and a high S/N In low light the image just gets darker and not grainier.
First pic are the raw materials I used. A DEP lens (had to cut 6fold threads for the lens.) A eyepiece from a riflescope and a piece of delrin.
Image through the scope is a little blurry in the picture nothing near how it looks in real life!
GEN3 is great. Or DEP tubes gen2.

wow theres susch a difference from a cheap 3rd gen thats more like a 2.gen…..to this thing….this is what 3rd gens is about !
