Jerry’s slugs! WOW
I first must tell you I only have 2000 psi in my scuba tank and gun. I could not wait to try slugs so i said what the hell why not. I tried to put a .22 7 ring .217 52grain slug in and shoot. I thought way too tight! I am anxious so foorced in with thumb. I let it rip! I have a very thick wooden backstop. I out a 2×4 in front of it and lined up the laser. Well smack in to the 2×4 and right thru and stuck in the carpet (front of trap has thick carpet doubled over). dug slug out deformed real nice just a smashing effect making it larger but no loss of mass. I said well thats pretty impressive for the amount of air i have in tank. I said why not try the .218 7 ring 52 grain slug. I said no way it will fit! I tried my thumb no luck! took a srewdriver handle and psuhed in! Gotta shoot it now! Get the F outta here is all i can say! thru the 2×4 , two layers of thick carpet, one 5/8 ” compressed board and a 1/4″ plywood I have behind the backstop!
The pellets are friggin crazy! this thing will dust anything you brain shoot! I have not done any accuraccy tests but if they are decent this brings your .22 condor to a new level. I will shoot over chrono when i get more air. I am set p for kodiacs pretty much wide open and they turn in about 1035 ft per sec normally. will see what slugs do hope accuraccyis as good as penetration! I honestly think a coon, fox, coyote would not stand a prayer with a head shot!

will put them to the test this week end. I will stretch them out to 50 yards quickly. No sightig in just a group period. I usually do pretty well off the ATV seat. I sit on the ground behind it and lay the gun on the seat in a jacket craddled up. I normally can do about 1 inch at 50 yards so we should have a good comparison to the Kodiac extra heavies. (normally use them). My condor performs poorly with the Big Boys pellets and the Ejun heavies but likes kodiacs. we shall see.
Well that’s a good question! Kinda took me back as I don’t have a pat answer for that.
I guess anything outside of 2″ groups at 50 yards might be considered poor for hunting fox sized critters but that’s just my quick opinion.
Certainly I’d like to see 1/2″ groups at 50 yards for target rounds but that was never the intent for these slugs.
My biggest concern is that we/I don’t create a false imppresion of great accuracy and then deliver far less.
what is considered poor accuracy?

Folks, it is sad news but these slugs while heavy hitting don’t appear to have much potential for accurate shooting. I don’t know yet if there is another mod to try but I’ll be thinking about it…
I am thinking most of my critters are within 50 yards here in the east thick woods. I wood think 2 inch groups at that distance would serve my purpose. Will test out to 50 yards this weekend. Will have to try to save a couple for chrono! Have not tried 42 grainers yet went for the heavies!

Thanks for the update Slayer! The penetration of heavy slugs (especially ones that fit tight and help build up breech pressure) is usually a revelation the first time around. Of course, the drop of heavy slugs will be greater and if they are not accurate enough it won’t matter but smashing things is always fun!
I would say that head shots are probably not required on the critters you mentioned as heavy slugs will do deadly damage through shoulders etc. I’m sure your gun will kill coons just fine with a Kodiak to the head! Now, if you want the head to come off….
I’ve not read any detailed report just yet but the first feedback has me concerned about accuracy. I hope that there is a proper speed and size to get accuracy out of these slugs as the sheer weight will take care of the rest of the performance equation.

I would say if you can claim 1 inch at 50 yards that would be very decent. AF markets the Condor to be able to get 1″ or less at 75 yards. The Talon/SS is rated for 1″ at 50 yards.
