Q:

JSB rant

I shoot Kings out of my Cricket. I get the fliers and attribute it to something.
Reading about the Speedy Pellet Inspector I had to have two. .177 and .25.
Last week I shot the Cricket and a mag or two from the new tin. The SPI arrived and tonight I sorted the nearly full tin of Kings.
I found 41 pellets with deformed skirts out of 300 or so pellets. I tossed them into the trash.
Come on JSB, I am throwing money away.

When did you last clean your barrel. i found that made a big difference last time I cleaned mine. :fishinghole:

Last week. But did not shoot the Cricket until today.
Hunted ground squirrel at distances of 15 to 75 yrds today. I was 35 of 42. 6 were Poly Mags. Poly Mags make a mess of ground squirrels.

I been shooting at the pellet trap and having fun but it sounds like you are having some real fun. I would love to be sitting in a field surrounded ground squirrels instead of neighbors.

Chris, 955 fps.
GKU, some of the skiryts looked like someone used a finger nail to crush the skirt.

Yrrah did the test but he took the pis down IIRC he used his nails to do the denting almost to the center of the pellets.

Also some say the skirts blow back into shape when fired, so accuracy doesn’t suffer.

There is a lot of info on old yellow forum I’d do a search, read it and test it for yourself.
Also do a search on fliers, they have many theories to what causes them.

I’ve been getting very good lot tins and I do buy very large quantity for many years.
I never had that amount of damaged pellets from JSB before.

It usually not the fault of JSB to putout damage goods, it’s usually who is rough handling your shipping. 😉

I have bought all kinds of pellets and JSB fly best in all my guns. I don’t buy anything else.

Yes I second that, someone on Yellow forum did a test where he actually bent the skirts and it didn’t loose any accuracy.
The head of the pellet, size shape and uniformity is more attributed to the accuracy then it’s skirt in most barrels.
I’d do a conclusive test before throwing money into the trash.
If not at closer ranges it could be used for plinking also.

What fps are you getting? JSB Kings might be a bit light for your Cricket perhaps? JSB Kings are generally thought to be the best. Ted Holdover doesn’t use anything else in some of his guns. So don’t be too quick to blame the pellet just because someone is making a living on “the speedy pellet inspector”. I used to worry about deformed skirts until someone pointed out that by the time the pellet has been blasted down the length of a tight pcp barrel, the skirts will exit the muzzle shaped fine.
