Q:

Just Broke A Cricket Valve Stem

I have one of the early Crickets from March 2013 with the original metal/plastic valve stems and have about 2500 shots though the .22 standard skeleton Cricket. Luckily, Steve had sent me a replacement all metal valve stem for free waiting for this day to happen. :suprisedn:

I will finally put in one of the metal hammer spring adjusters as I change the valve. 🙂

your having all the fun, me using tuning.

Just make sure both sealing surface are clean on valve stem and on the body sealing surface —> you don’t want any kind of hard macro dirt/metal —> it will pit the sealing surface and leak. only 1/4 turn spring tension on the valve spring. check for leak on the air vent after filling—have seen a lot leaking from there, just tighten, be careful not to strip the head—vary easy to do with loose fitting hex.

I just got two with one shot…. 😆

My problem is we are in the middle of a snow storm and the black birds are invading in large numbers. They are eating the persimmons I discovered that are rotting on the ground under a few trees in my backyard. I have nearly worn the .25 std Matador out with Predators this afternoon since the Cricket broke. The snow covers them up as fast as I nail them. :4:

‘Fraid the monkey has me beat according to my wife. Speaking of someone nailed one of our deer with a car at the entrance to my neighborhood.

The disassembly/reassembly is one very easy job. A trained Monkey can do it – blindfolded – so you have better than average change on success you too. If you have the part at hand – and an intelligence at the blindfolded Monkey level, minimum – it´s done in 15 minutes, incl. the refill. You can do it !

I think all the Crickets made since June 2013 (made, not sold) are with the new aluminium stem. I know nothing about WWAG/Steve replacement strategy though ..

Serious questions. Do they ship now with all metal valve stems? Also the one with plastic how long do they usually last? Did Steve at WWAG included free all metal stem in original purchase?

My .22 Cricket was set nearly exactly 900 fps with 18 JSBs.

Ernest – I saw the video on disassembly which looks easy enough. Is there any information on replacing the valve stem in the valve body I need to worry about?

I have a large flock of black birds that just won’t leave which is when I broke the stem. Now I am nailing them with the .25 standard Matador and Predator pellets or I would have the gun apart already. They just won’t leave. I nail a few and they fly away for a few minutes and come back. There must be 30 of them laying out in the snow.

WOW, I could have giving you one also for free!!! :8:

Anyway, I have replace so many plastic valve stem and most of them not even broken. but they do brake sooner is you over power them!

Now I need to order a few spare valve stems from Steve at WWAG and get a few spares for my Matador .25 on the group buy soon. :biggrinn: Now I have two spares on my Matador 30 cal. 😉
