Just Broke Power Wheel Screw
Help Help Help just broke that shitty little plastic screw on the powerwheel. Need to know the thread size?? Saw it posted recently, but just cand find the f+*king thing.

I emailed AirForce to see if they could tell me the size of the screw. Their response was, “Thank you for your email. We special order this screw as it is not an off the shelf item. If you would like to purchase this item, the cost is $2.40”. No help there. I emailed Tony @ TalonTunes, and his response was, “they are 4-40 cup cap screws.

Airbud one of the reasons a 4/40 might have fit in yours is because it might have been sripped out, with these being plasitc it is very easy to just pull all the threads out of the ring or bolt or both! Looks like maybe a good place to make up an threaded alumimun ring or make the whole assembly out of aluminum! not sure why they used plastic there in the first place 😯
Plastic won’t mark up the anodized frame.
Before we leave the subject, what would it take to align the numbered tape with approximately “0” at the 3/48 Allen Socket head screw?
What would it take to drill and tap the plastic and or will the numbered tape re-stick well enough.
I suspect AF doesn’t line it up with “0” because many would expect the exact performance at a given setting.

Just double checked my findings and what I have on my Condor which is a little over a year old is a 3/48 Allen head bolt a 440 is to large in diameter and not the right thread I am sure you could force one in becasue of the wheel being plastic also, but it is a 3/48, the ones I bought were about 3/16″ long they need a bit taken off stock one is about an 1/8″ long! And Adam I don’t see any reason at all a set screw would not work and probably look better, maybe a stainless one if that is the look you like 😆

I read in another thread that it was a 4-40 size screw. I tried a 3-48, and it is too small in mine.

How long does it have to be? Could a set screw work or does it need a socket cap?
*cough* buy a nice stainless one from Tony at Talon Tunes – I have one and it looks amazing.
The power indicator in the horizontal slot in the side of the Frame. This is the Plastic socket head screw that moves, in the slot, upon turning the thumb power wheel.
Usually the first screw removed, to remove the barrel. It is a very soft plastic, so when tightening it, when it stops turning, it will break, immediately. Insert the long end of the wrench into the socket, and use the short end for torque?
This is a delicate screw, just be careful and it won’t break. I removed mine about 4 times with no problems.

It is the little plastic screw on the power wheel adjuster that works as a indicator of your power wheel setting, the one that get rounded after the first removal.
I just bought 4 today, and yes they are a little too long but still work as is.

What screw are you guys talking about. If I ever broke that screw I would never find one where I live.
The shortest ones they had were 1 or 2 threads too long so i just bottomed it out and backed it off 1 turn. I might take a fine file to the others to knock off a tiny bit of length.

Air Bud I am sure Airforce said that for a reason you can buy either size at your local hardware or Mcmaster Carr or similar place,for 20 cents! so I am sure there’s is much better 😯 and I did take the time to check my bolt it is a 3/48 checked with a magnifyn glass and thread pitch gauge they are hard to see Also checked the diameter of the oringinal plastic bolt and my threads were still good, the head of my plastic allen head bolt was stripped out, mabe Airforce made a change some time down the road and went with a larger one but the one in mine is 3/48 not 4/40 what yours is I don’t know
