Q:

Just common sence on company buyouts

What message does it send to us guys in the sport that buy air guns from other country’s , WE send our money in and are told the company sold out and the new owner does not have to deal with us because we bought our stuff from the other guy.
You guessed it I am talking about TOP GUN, Peter and Joe Brancato
I paid for my gun Feb 27th Joe bought Top Gun March first as much as I was told , The exact date is hush hush,
Peter is now out of the air gun business, Now I am waiting on my gun from someone that is out of business, I have to send my gun back to Peter for any warranty since Top Gun Where I bought the gun from will not deal with me….
Does this sound funny to anyone else or is it just me?????
Example, Since I used to run a small bike shop.
Someone buys a P/C has X bike shop install it, They get pad to install it and sell it,
Guy brings me the bike P/C no work, I call P/C company up get a new coming under warranty charge for the install, Everyone is happy.
I do not say Fuck you, you bought it from X bike shop you deal with them,,,
Maybe I am just a nice guy,
Joe and Peter need to get there shit together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t have a dog in this race, but I used to do a lot of M&A work. You guys have no idea how complicated it is to take over a business. You might think it’s easier to do it with a small business, but it’s not. In a small business, frequently the operational details are all in the head of the prior owner, and it is very difficult to get everything running smoothly right away. That doesn’t mean that customers should bear the brunt of all the problems, but it’s a mistake to assume that one guy exercising common sense will take care of everything. It’s hard work, and it’s nearly impossible to make everything work perfectly from day one, especially if one of the reasons for thes sale of the business was that the prior owner was over his head.

I have a similar ongoing issue with a TGAG purchase during the transition from Peter to Joe. I ordered a Vulcan tactic .25 on 03/19 and it shipped out to me on 3/22 and showed up on 03/26 what I got was a .25 Vulcan Bullpup not the tactic! So I called and spoke to Joe, he said I will be sent a return label via email and they would wait to send me the tactic until they get the bullpup back. So I shipped the bullpup back on Monday March 28th, it arrives back at Airtanks for sale in Huntingdon Ca on April 1. I call Joe once it is delivered and he says they will get the tactic sent out that day, and I will get the fed-ex shipping notice later in the day. The weekend goes by, and now it is late Monday… Still no shipping notification. I call Joe again and speak to an assistant and tell the story, he says he will take care of it. Joe calls me later in the evening and says there has been a massive mistake and that all the .25 tactics they received were in fact all .22’s !! That also clicked with me as I know someone else on AGN that bought a .25 tactic and received a .22 instead.
So, Joe says the .25’s are shipping and he will have them in by end of next week, or he will have another vendor drop ship one directly to me.
He is working on getting all the TGAG inventory shipped back to CA where Airtanks for sale is based.

All I can say is, this is clown school…

Well it is not even 3K. I told these dealers a long time ago how to fix the Mutant. I gave them the contact information, I made a video, I have made numerous posts on how well my Mutant shoots. I have given this information to whomever wanted for the grand price of free. The replacement barrel is pretty inexpensive. Seems so simple to me. This is why when buying a company you hire a lawyer to make sure not to purchase a company that has a bunch of outstanding warranty issues.

I do not like Joes aggressive business approach and think he is bad for the community. BUT, he knows how to make money.

Joe if you continue to piss guys off and do the wrong thing your going to loose business. Think $$$$ Joe. I know how important money is too a guy like you. How much is it to take care of the old transactions Joe? Barrels for the Mutants and whatever else? What can it be $3000? $5000 max?

Here is advice from someone who has made money in business. Stop stressing over the $3000 take it as a loss and declare it on your taxes. You will have loyal customers for life. High end customers, not everyone is buying higher end airguns. Get a bad name Joe and you will be losing business. Do the right thing here you will be able to sleep and a large burden will be lifted.

How many calls and emails do you have with the old owner? I know you, head strong and stubborn so its too many to count. Take it as a tax write off and you loose little to nothing Joe. Next year this time you will be smiling. You made and are making enough on tanks/compressors to buy this high end online airgun shop. Do the wrong thing here it will hurt you and your business moving forward. In fact it has started. In the big picture its a drop in the bucket.

Dang! Sorry to hear about all this mess… Seems both guys previously had pretty good reputations for taking care of customers and had good products… Shame both of them can’t put their big boy panties on and MAN up and do business in a right, professional manner. Until I hear different, I’ll have to look elsewhere for my air gun needs.

I posted a comment right after Joe posted that. It’s monkey business. Joe should have agreed to honor previous sales and warranty and adjusted the price he paid. A vendor to avoid imo unless you have no other supplier.
