Just Got New Compressor – Where does Burst Disc Go??
Just got my new high pressure compressor- where does the burst disc go?
I filled it with 46 Hydraulic oil
Without load, it gets up to 50C

Im not familiar with that oil and have never seen hydraulic oil used in anything other than hydraulics.
Your call but personally I run a synthetic breathing air compressor oil and cant get it to heat up any hotter than 42 degrees with continuous fills.
At a push you can use a good synthetic car engine oil but you are better to spend the money on some breathing air compressor oil such as royal purple or Bauer oils.
You will get a lot more carbon build up, smoke and dieseling from petroleum based oils and the rings and bearings wont last long. The by products that are produced from these oils are not something you want in your bottles or PCPs either.
Use at least 3 galons/12ltrs of water for cooling and add more cold water if you get it over 40 degrees C.
The machines inbuilt thermal cut out will shut it off at 60 degrees C.
The manual and sellers info says “46# Anti-wear Hydraulic oil”. That’s what I used. Is that not correct?
No smoke or anything came out of the air output / whip end
These are designed to run with Compressor oil not Hydraulic fluid, which has almost no lubing properties, this is why its getting hot so quick.

Ran without load for just shy of 15 minutes. Temp got up to 55.8C and it shut off
There was some light smoke coming from the machine- unsure where it was emanating from
Oil went in clear, now slightly grey in the window. Same level.
Let it cool down, started up again.
I think I will run it without load for about 15 min and see how it does
